Hirst’s BleedingCart

It’s the computer game side of GarageHirst off the Internet (Cyberspace). One day will be a YouTube channel (actually the channel exists, just no videos on it).

The number plate SR55EGA on the Sega Rally 3 machine isn’t registered but the format is technically compliant so in theory I could request the DVLA release it for sale and buy it. I don’t have any car new enough for it to go on, but I guess it would be something to do.

Sorry to hear about the death of UK retailer GAME, which died about 10-15 years ago really. I will remember it fondly as a place I used to go in and then not buy anything because it would never be in stock, so I’d get it off the Internet.

it's occasionally hilarious to remember how right after columbine it felt like a huge blow was dealt to light gun games in the US but nothing negative really happened to actual guns huh

I really like Sonic 1 and don’t think playing the later games lessened any enjoyment I had for it. Most complaints seem to come down to people who can’t figure out how to keep up momentum without access to the spin dash, which I strongly feel is a skill issue rather than a game fault.

Always fun to hear folks say that Sonic 1 is an unplayable shitty ass game or whatever because the implication seems to be that its popularity at the time is from an entire generation of video game players that had no idea what they were doing. Also seems to mostly be Sonic fans saying this.

Talking of good games for once, I picked up Kuukiyomi: Consider It World - Thailand Ver. and it’s great! What a weird little series, going to pick up the rest. Little mini games where you try to be as considerate as possible, but equally importantly - there’s a mode where you can be a total dick!

Honestly I’d be quite happy for AAA gaming to completely collapse, along with the need for giant publishers and investment returns. I lost a lot of interest in gaming during the 360/PS3 era as I was sick of grey-brown-beige war shooters and bland Hollywood-style stuff with huge budgets.

'Grand Theft Auto VI, The Last Blockbuster' GTAVI won't be the last AAA video game, but it sure does feel like the last one we'll ever see at this scale. aftermath.site/gta-vi-grand-t...

To be honest, I think anyone should be able to do a translation of anything they want regardless of whether anyone else has (AI or not) and not face backlash for doing so. If someone is wasting time duplicating work, that’s up to them. Two translations doesn’t stop one existing.

At some point there's gotta be a re-evaluation on how fan translators opt to not work on something that's "already translated" as these quick and shitty AI jobs keep happening. Otherwise we'll end up with a sea of broken works nobody will touch because ShittyLingo69 "already translated" them.

Completely agree with this, it’s great to have the full sets stored for safety but for devices you should curate. The reality of having thousands of games is that you end up unable to commit to one in particular because it’s too easy to quit and try something else. It’s like flicking channels.

My only advice regarding emulation or whatever of older platforms is this: Yes, you could just dump an entire platform's library in a folder. But I recommend curating. Because the person gloating about having the entire SNES catalog on their Raspberry Pi is probably only playing Super Mario World.
