Growing up in a fandom that invented it's own fansubbing hardware with Amigas, to mail order Geocities Tape Gods to torrenting series years before they hit toonami. It boggles me that in 2026, kids think 'I found a TikTok posting VHS fansubbed eps of Sailor Moon' is considered a 'cool retro find'.

I think a lot of people fail to appreciate that at one point, anime was both increasingly cool and starting to blow up and *also* exactly cool enough, but not mainstream enough, to say it fucking sucks and you're weird for liking it.

So I got one of my home brew Steam Machines, which has an optical drive, configured to launch the Nightdive Quake 2 remaster whenever this 29 year old Quake II CDROM is inserted and mounted. Useless but awesome!

I'm doing a Full Metal Panic rewatch, first time seeing some of these shows since they were in fansubs, despite owning them all on Blu-Ray. Naturally I can skip the 4th season since it's very recent. ...Then I realize that FMP:IV is over ***eight*** freaking years old...
