I wouldn’t say it hurts to look at the broken families of my victims—because I know the families are better off without them—but it almost pangs a flash of guilt to see them throw empty casket funerals. I wish I could confess to the spouses of the murderers on my table what they’ve been married to.

One of Dexter's few exceptions to the Code of Harry was Nathan Martens, a man who was convicted of molesting a young girl. Dexter did not take the time to set up a kill room, instead garroting the man around the neck in his home, before stealing a carton of milk and allowing the corpse to rot.

The name “Bay Harbor Butcher” is disingenuous. I’m not a butcher, nor have I continued to dump bodies into Bay Harbor. I take pride in what I do.
