The requested 1.5 trillion Dollar military budget means they will spend 2,853,881 dollars per minute, that’s two million, eight hundred and fifty four thousand dollars, every minute. This is money they don’t have (the federal deficit is 1,800,000,000,000 dollars, or 1.8 thousand billion dollars.

I saw a Ford F-450 Super Duty, one of the largest pickup trucks for sale, it looked like it had never carried anything in the truck bed, parked next to the sidewalk. I have never seen a more appropriate bumper sticker on the tailgate. It said, “Baby on Board.” Another case of TDS. No, not that one.
Enlightened public figures like @rbreich.bsky.social have been commenting on this topic for a long time. I had a conversation with a co-worker a couple of years ago about wealth inequality. I asked her at some point, “do you know how much a billion dollars is?”
She was incredulous when I noted that a billion dollars are one thousand million dollars. I may as well have asked her about a distance expressed in light years.
