Weird I have never been compelled to do any kind of journalism (excepting data journalism), but this would be an interesting article to try to write (via interviewing people in this position). It feels like the two sides of this gap are mutually unintelligible.
*thinking that AI is the primary reason as opposed to just, there is a lot to learn! And like discomfort with not knowing and blaming that entirely on AI. Also not knowing how to learn with AI, in part because of no gut instinct for when AI is pursuing the wrong thing.
Here's what I see, n=1: - a real desire to learn - understanding that using AI does not lead to much learning - possibly thinking that AI is the primary reason for not being able to learn quickly - not knowing *how* to learn given the mandate to move fast
Anyone ever seen/read a good essay about what it's like to be a recent grad working as a software engineer? (E.g. to have never worked professionally without AI)
