Got the radiator fitted and system filled, if only I hadn't forgotten to put in the drain plug!
A little bit of outside time now that it's almost all grey
Fashioned a mount for the belt tensioner, seems like it should all line up nicely. Nearly 180° of belt wrap on the alternator should help considerably! Just need to get a belt for it tomorrow
Taking apart the last 12 years of your life is.. tough. Yo truck from a local car meet to combat the morose-posting. Gotta keep the head up.
Small project this evening, added a reinforcement/perch behind the timing cover that this idler pulley can mount to. Lowers the belt, increases belt wrap on the alternator, and also does a surprisingly good job at fastening the timing cover. I'll figure out an auto tensioner eventually..
Made progress, even if it wasn't quite as much as I'd hoped for. I embossed the area around the crank sensor, and it'll accommodate a grommet to help keep debris out of the timing components. Everything will be quite snug, but that's what I'm going for!
Been working at timing cover parts, this lower piece is a real odd one. All sorts of shapes! Used my spot welder to put some recessed mounts on the upper bit to both space it out and keep the bolts flush. Hopefully gonna get the lower bit squared off tomorrow.
Got the cam gears modified to accommodate my beauty ring things (one acts as a pickup wheel for a camshaft sensor), then started drawing out a new timing cover to replace the stock one I don't like
Got a bit of dog time today, trying to keep my mind off things a bit. Needed a water pump pulley that was not just 6-rib, but also an adjusted size to match with the slightly smaller crankshaft pulley. Just need to work out an auto-tensioner. Also ft. My favorite red bull that we don't get here
TMW the transmission sounds like it's full of marbles Here's hoping it's somehow not bad news. Now I wait for the diagnosis. Maybe next month will be better? August has not been great.
Still working out of what I suppose I'll call a funk.. Made up a meager bracket for a new alternator setup, still gotta sort out a tensioner and stuff yet.
This week hasn't really been much better, trying not to talk about it much on account of I try so hard to keep a positive outlook but some days are hard. In other news, I saw a very strange looking couple of delivery vans yesterday
It has not been a very good week and I'm struggling a bit. Cleaned the car and went a bit out of town to get some photos. This is one of my favourite weekends of the year and I'm in such a funk I can't really enjoy it. Not every day is a good one, just gotta stick around for when they come, right?
Now I'm no expert, but something looks off with this spinach..
I didn't know this car, it became very interesting, 1990 Buick Reatta. Cmms for @evansmine8 Thank you so much for your support!!!
Went to the metal store today and picked up some steel, used the somewhat trusty mini lathe to turn it into a ring of sorts, and then pressed that onto the pulley to beef up the mating surface. I need to machine the hub down, but I'm fighting chatter on the lathe something fierce with this pulley!
