Early yesterday morning, I had to say goodbye to my best friend. Roscoe and I were near-inseparable from the moment he came home. Every night, I told him, “I can’t believe I get to have another sleepover with my best friend,” and it’s breaking my heart to wake up without him this morning. Rest easy.

I attended an old friend’s funeral today. When we were kids, I rode my skateboard and hung onto the back of his wheelchair, and he’d slingshot me down the hill by my grandparents’ house, and more often than not, I’d eat shit, and we’d cackle about it. I am grateful for joyful, stupid memories.
