Over the last few years, I have met many people determined to make sure newborn babies are screened for SMA, and worked with them to see this programme start. Early detection - before symptoms show - can be life-changing. I hope this programme continues to succeed + helps families all over Scotland.

First baby identified through Scotland's SMA screening programme starts treatment

The baby was tested for the rare genetic condition, that can cause progressive muscle weakness and affect movement, breathing and swallowing, at just five days old

Visited the Lord Provost's Peace Garden yesterday, on the 81st anniversary of the bombing of Hiroshima & Nagasaki. It saw Dr Hiro Shimai lead the planting of a new tree, grown from seeds of a tree that survived the bombs 81 years ago. Scotland, and the world, will be safer without nuclear weapons.

I recently met with SPT to discuss their plans that are currently being developed to operate a franchised bus system. I'm supportive of their plans and hope to work constructively with SPT+ScotGov to maximise the prospect of success. It will deliver a more strategic approach to planning bus services

Scotland has put its trust in the SNP, and that trust will never be taken for granted. However you voted, we will work every day to improve lives, stand up for Scotland, and build the fairer, stronger future our country deserves.

Just some of the highlights from the last week. From chatting with many voters, it's clear they value SNP policies which help families. From the Scottish Child Payment, to the doubling of childcare; from ensuring a university education is free to making sure Scotland maintains free prescriptions.

Last week, I hosted a parliamentary roundtable event with MSPs + Govt officials to discuss the impressive contribution Glasgow Kelvin College makes to learners and our city economy. We found opportunities to support the College, to build on their current success. I will pursue this with the ScotGov
