Notes, history and opinion on the Penguins.

Pens will be home on Thanksgiving Eve for the 14th consecutive season when the NHL was playing (2012, 2020 were exceptions). They'll be facing Calgary on Thanksgiving Eve for just the second time (2-1 SO win in 2022).

Pens also have 12 of their last 13 games, and 14 of their last 20 games, against division opponents. Last season, they played 7 of their last 20 games against division foes, and the season before it was 5.

With the September 30 opener @ Flyers, Pens will have played a regular season or playoff game in every month except July. Played one exhibition game in July 2020 before the Covid playoffs.

Been watching Tom Dundon get roasted for his Stanley Cup engraving debacle. Hopefully it continues. Where is the NHL on this? We all believe the trophy is sacred, but only the NHL can defend that belief with actions.

Given their history of gut-wrenching losses in the World Cup, the amount of time they played down a man, the atmosphere, the altitude… just an incredible character win for England.

Haaland just continues to amaze. They keep talking about how rarely he gets touches, but he only needs a few to shape a game. Premier League, World Cup, doesn’t matter. Force of nature.

Pens wound up with 6 picks today and have taken 19 players over the last 2 drafts. The last time they selected more players over 2 drafts was 23 taken in 2003 (11) and 2004 (12).
