Dr Aggrey Burke was the first Black consultant psychiatrist to work in the NHS. He was highly esteemed for his extensive research on racism and mental illness. The Aggrey Burke Fellowship was established in 2023 to support Black medical students to pursue a career in psychiatry. buff.ly/HUaX8OD

Dr Charles Drew's pioneering research in blood transfusion led to improvements in blood collection & storage techniques. In 1939 Drew established blood banks for the Blood for Britain programme. He also pioneered the concept of mobile blood collection sites, known as "bloodmobiles." buff.ly/spMGuLL
