Folks, you can hire a 12 year old to watch your kids if they’re between 5 and 10. They will be fine.
change in societal norms from "a 14 year old is capable of watching 3 kids for an evening" to "a 14 year old can't be trusted to be in public unchaperoned"
I love how unafraid of failure AI is. It could just say “I tried, but I couldn’t really do what you asked. Sorry”. But it doesn’t. It embraces imperfection. It’s an inspiration for us all.
It sure does seem like pro sports superstars are changing teams a lot these days. I swear I am not 80 years old.
A day in the life of a still totally relevant software developer who is definitely not being replaced by AI
I accidentally asked Claude about an error in a different repo than the one it was in and instead of calling me an idiot (which is what it should’ve done) it just fixed the error in the other repo. Obviously it asked me for permission first but I said yes without paying attention, as one does

The Acela takes just over an hour and the seats have a lot of legroom.
I think it will be simply impossible for LeBron James to figure out a work commute
Come on, you're an actor. You're supposed to be good at this.
lol
I wasn’t sad we were deprived of a Magnus vs. Nepo rematch. I didn’t pine for Magnus vs. Ding, and I don’t think Magnus vs. Gukesh would’ve been very exciting. Magnus vs. Sindarov, on the other hand…
This is confusing because I would’ve gotten this right and I was sure I paid less attention to gas prices than most people.
hilarious chart ngl
In the olden days you tried to polish your writing so people would think it was good. Nowadays you have to intentionally rough it up a little so people don’t think it’s AI.
The two people who are breaking through the noise and cutting through to the essence of what is happening right now with deeply damaged Donald Trump are Jon Ossoff and Hunter Biden. Here is Hunter's very perceptive take on the messy scene at the White House Correspondents Dinner:
I got this position at my tournament yesterday. I didn’t know what to do and the game ended in a draw. Afterwards two different people told me Magnus Carlsen had a position like this recently and knew the win. Anyone know what they’re talking about?
I gained 20 rating points at Charlotte Chess Center yesterday
With the right technique it’s surely the naan
Finally, someone asking the important questions
It is kinda depressing how people just don’t care whether something is true. You could point out to this person or the 10K+ people liking this post that lots of tech executives do live within 5 miles of a datacenter, and they don’t care. The post makes them feel good.

For International Chess Day, I looked back on some photos — from my match at age 11 with Joel Benjamin, who became the youngest-ever chess master, to playing a few moves with former President Joe Biden last year. It's a great game that taught me wonderful lessons. Happy #InternationalChessDay!

Were you watching the World Cup or playing chess? Well, we have the stats for it... (1/2)
Copa America scheduling is even more inconsistent than the world chess championship
If someone woke up from a long coma in 2026 I bet they would be surprised at how stretchy all our clothes are now
I’m pretty sure @chess.com is juicing the ratings because I just made 2200 blitz for the first time.
Twice a year DST time shifts by one whole hour at a time are obsolete. We can do one minute a day for 60 days. We have the technology.

I texted two different group chats today about “when I start a chess podcast” so maybe that’s becoming less of a joke
My passport doesn’t expire until 2028 but maybe I should renew now before they expand this to all passports
Re: the Trump passport. You can only get them by applying in-person at the Washington, DC passport office. So y’all who have been stressing out about them are safe if you renew by mail or at any other passport office.
