But in the end I'm not a game designer and so there is really no value in me thinking about game design while playing a game. Because what if the resulting writing actually erects a cognitive barrier between the audience and their games?
Yea but then it's fine for people to get pissed off. It's not only fine it's optimal. Because that's how sharpening taste works. You hear something outrageous and immediately construct arguments against it, giving form to formerly diffuse feelings of appreciation. Idk why you're so defensive tbh
Harper Jay@dreamcastaway.bsky.social · 2d agoIt's fine to say "This thing is better than another thing." That's a thesis, a foundation for a wider critique. And even if someone doesn't pursue that process or make the persuasive appeal, it's still fine for them to say it. Nothing important (games are not important) is harmed by doing that.
I'm writing a video about scores right now and something that really surprised me is: Chuds are right when they're disappointed about a 7/10 But with right wingers it's always the crux of somehow feeling that a problem exists but when it comes to it's analysis they helplessly shit themselves

Dominic Tarason@dominictarason.com · 2w agoIt's not too surprising but the Devolver news really does highlight that the shareholder crowd doesn't want profitable companies. They want to spin the roulette wheel and flip the table if it doesn't immediately pay out at 40 to 1 odds.
I love it so far, but this dog constantly finding stuff is horrible for my ADHD - I literally get thrown off my plans every three seconds I just wish this came out 15 years ago so I could've played it with my sister while we both still lived at our parents house.

just rolled credits on Mina the Hollower and I liked it quite a bit going up those towers unearthed the memory of some gameboy game I got on a fleamarket as a child, I think it was one of my most played, yet unsuccessful games games ever no idea what it was called though
