This book is so terrific! A great #youngteenlit that is funny, has realistic 14yo dialogue (for the most part- there is less swearing than they actually do), and chronicles a night-before-graduation sneak-out that is age-appropriate, creative, and fun as hell.

Clarence Thomas says the 14th Amendment should be read narrowly because it was written for formerly enslaved people. By that logic, the 2nd Amendment was written for muskets, not AR-15s. Funny how that kind of originalism only shows up when it's convenient.

Current read. A fun, puzzley, scavenger-hunt about sound, noise and music. Unique topic and a fast read- perfect for upper elementary. My adult sound-consultant son would have loved this in third grade!

Research shows that schools with librarians tend to outperform schools without them on standardized tests, and even that schools with full-time librarians get better scores than schools with part-time library staff. www.newyorker.com/preview/arti...

Why “Book-Shaming” Won’t Solve the Children’s Literacy Crisis
