Many wealthy countries today were poor or devastated after World War 2. Their postwar generation invested in their country instead of corrupting it. Politicians who really care about their children, grandchildren & great-grandchildren wouldn't steal from the People but serve them

I wish corrupt politicians would realize that the middle class in a working democracy live far better lives than the elite in a dysfunctional oligarchy. You don't need a fancy car in a walkable city with a good metro. You don't need to be filthy rich in a wealthy welfare state.
