🌿 These days we’ve been out in the field as part of María Juan Sánchez-M.’s final degree project. She is a Biology student at @uib.cat working on her bachelor's thesis in Botany under the supervision of Joana Cursach, member of BOTLAND.

🚨📄NEW PAPER ALERT📄🚨 This month, Dr. Joana Cursach and Dr. Llorenç Gil have published a study on Silene migjornensis, an endemic plant from Mallorca with only one known population in the dune systems of the island’s south.

Last Friday, members of BOTLAND visited the Centre Multidisciplinari per a la Biodiversitat Balear (#CMB), a newly established centre created to strengthen biodiversity research, management and conservation in the Balearic Islands.

Today, Pere Miquel Mir Rosselló defended his PhD dissertation: “Interdisciplinary Approach to the Biology of Mediterranean Bryophytes,” supervised by Dr. Llorenç Gil, Dr. Jaume Flexas, and Dr. Marc Carriquí. We now have a new doctor in BOTLAND! Congratulations, Dr. Mir! 🌿🎓🎉

🌿 At the IX Jornades de Medi Ambient, we presented several research projects by bachelor’s and master’s students. ✨ We highlight the Bachelor’s Thesis by Lluna Jordà on the bryoflora of the UIB campus, awarded the first commendation of the BIODIBAL/REDEIA Prize 2025.
