So many reasons to hate Doug Ford but this has low-key been one of my biggest. Such an important part of Canadian culture that has just been left to die. The Cinepshere is literally *THE* OG permanent IMAX theatre!!!

Inside the years-long odyssey to reopen the IMAX Cinesphere at Ontario Place, a tragic and embarrassing state of affairs that not even the gods could forgive. www.theglobeandmail.com/culture/film...

Happy Birthday to @slybowser.bsky.social! 🥳 Besides being grateful to call him a friend, I've been very proud seeing how much he's hustled and grown in recent years as games media. On that note, he's currently looking for work, so please consider him for any roles! You'd be lucky to have him. 👇

So while editors can expect me in their inbox, I'll also say: if you're looking for a writer who is more than capable of independently handling a daily news grind, writing longer features and interviews, reviews, guides, or anything else you may need, reach out at davidcarc96@hotmail.com

It's really cool that Capy Castaway get covered by CP24, but the interview itself was yet another reminder of how far behind mainstream outlets are in their video game literacy. Like why was Roblox brought up at all, and it should've been them, not Saffron, walking the audience through what Steam is

Very cool seeing @kittencupstudio.bsky.social on CP24 talking about @capycastaway.com this morning. We need more mainstream coverage of games like this!

First off, what a cool looking game. Can't wait to play. Second, the interview where the game's creative director is asked "on Steam? What's that?" "it's a purchase game?" and "is there any chance it could go on Roblox?" is a real snapshot of where gaming's at.

Capy Castaway will launch at 10% off, with a soundtrack + digital artbook bundle for 12% off as well! You can also buy them separately as an add-on. 💜 Buying these add-ons means that you can experience the music + art of Capy Castaway whenever you want, while also supporting an amazing indie team!

I adored @capycastaway.com from Toronto's @kittencupstudio.bsky.social. The art style is delightful, the animal interactions are adorable and the wonderfully cozy vibes were much-needed. But above all else, it was genuinely lovely to see how much of Toronto and Canada as a whole is in the game. 🍁

Toronto-made Capy Castaway is a joyous tribute to wildlife and Canadiana

The cozy game amusingly draws inspiration from Toronto's infamous Bonnie and Clyde capybara escape, but its charms extend well beyond that.

After a delay and a (much-needed) long weekend, I'm finally ready to get back to more regularly publishing some features for the next little while. I'll have three this week on cool Canadian indies, starting with one later today! Looking forward to sharing.

After months of hard work, we're thrilled to finally welcome you to the island of Resthaven.
The Curse of Resthaven demo is LIVE. Come experience our unique blend of investigation, trading, deck-building, and gothic horror, and begin unraveling the mystery at the heart of the island.

The wonderfully talented folks at Toronto's @playhilltop.bsky.social just launched a Steam demo for their *very* promising gothic narrative roguelite, Curse of Resthaven. I got to check out the demo early and you definitely want to have this one on your radar!

One of this year's most promising Canadian indie games just got a free demo

Curse of Resthaven is the sophomore title from Toronto's Hilltop, the studio behind 2024's acclaimed Lil' Guardsman.
