Such a great article on interoceptive awareness, and how the brain constantly listens to the bodily signals like heart rate, breathing, gut functions etc and understanding how these signals arrive in the 🧠 is an important research area! www.technologyreview.com/2026/06/12/1...

Inside interoception: The hidden sense of how you feel inside

Researchers are decoding how signals move between body and brain, with implications for how we understand and treat conditions from obesity to anxiety.

On Friday, May 8, we can't wait to see you at the #FriedmanBrainInstitute's 18th Annual Neuroscience Retreat. Hosted by @brainbodylab.bsky.social & Sarah Stanley, we are super excited to celebrate our remarkable #MountSinai #Faculty #Postdocs #Students & #Staff at NYC's Historic Riverside Church🧠🔬🎉

Metabolically, the 🧠 uses the most energy than any organ from foods we eat and oxygen we breathe to regulate stress, emotions, or any cognitive function. So how can nutritional aspects and breathing practices not be key to holistic health, healing and longevity?

Understanding of the fight, flight, freeze response is evolving from a stress response to neuro-metabolic state. The 🧠 detects threat and allows response. Body reallocates energy to mobilize energy/conserve. The vagus nerve signals from the body to the brain for recovery+ restore balance.

On April 15th, United Nations General Assembly launched International Wellness Day initiated by Nepal and some thoughts on this great initiative. Health isn’t just absence of disease, healing isn’t just fixing dysfunction, longevity isn’t just adding years.

Aren’t scientists naturally philosophers first? Science often begins with wonder and questions about life, mind, matter, and meaning. But somewhere along the way, curiosity gets replaced by a race for publications, funding, titles, and survival. How can we stay connected to that same wonder?

Super-excited to have @skhalsa.bsky.social from UCLA for our brain-body seminar series on April 28th! Join us in the link below 👇

Why is understanding who we are through yoga, contemplation, awareness, meditation practices dismissed as philosophy, spirituality, subjectivity, or pseudoscience when science depends on the one who asks the questions? These practices allow to move from fragmentation to wholeness! 🙏✨

Join us tomorrow evening if you are in NY or visiting for an amazing night of stories of science and more!

TOMORROW NIGHT! On Wednesday, JOIN @brainbodylab.bsky.social and Pamela Toh as they host six #StoryTellers who share personal accounts of the challenges they've overcome & the triumphs they've experienced in their journey through the brain… and beyond! 🎟️ checkout.square.site/merchant/MJN...

Duality is part of life! For every bad person, there is a good person; for every evil, there is goodness. The question is where we place our non-dualistic awareness? In outrage, numbness, despair or in actions grounded in truth, non-harm, conscience and humanity itself? 🙏

Unchecked desire for power, status, money, control on full display as endless pit, a hedonic treadmill. Chasing, never arriving! Fulfilled desire=greed; Unfulfilled= anger/resentment. Yoga wisdom: desires are transient ripples in awareness and redirecting toward deeper Self-knowledge instead!

How much are our hearts craving peace in this time/moment? The monks walking for peace are following Buddha’s path (≠ religion). When humanity seems to be lost, this is quite a contrast reminder of peace, clarity, compassion, non-harm within ourselves and others as a choice! 🙏
