Sometimes I'm struck by how little tech innovation my teenagers have seen in their lifetimes compared to what I'd seen by the time I was their age. I watched the rise of personal computers, the internet, and eventually smartphones. They've seen iPhones get slightly thinner and the rise of AI slop.
Just say Nolan’s “The Odyssey” and it was a well-made film but I can’t stop imagining how awkward it must have been for a 60-foot-tall cyclops to milk a flock of regular-size sheep. That’s some real fine motor skill right there.
In the entire history of the United States we have had one (1) President who entered office with zero history of public service. Most people can probably guess who that was. How did that work out, assholes?
We don’t need fewer amateurs running for office. We need far more of them, recruited seriously
DOGE always reminded me of the message that would pop up in the original “Sim City” game if you tried to save money by cutting the road maintenance budget. (If you ignored the warning you’d always end up with disastrous road closures that cost you more in the long run).
Susprising absolutely nobody, there will be no formal postmortem report on DOGE, because no report could credibly claim the whole fiasco saved any money. federalnewsnetwork.com/agency-overs...
The excuses that Graham Platner apologists are coming up with to wave away his many years of reprehensible behavior are starting to sound a lot like the crap Trump cultists say. The enemy of my enemy is not always my friend, or even someone I want as my ally.
This is literally a bit from the cartoon “Adventure Time,” in which the villainous Ice King rebrands himself “Nice King” to trick all the local princesses into trusting him. Satire is dead and buried.
Trump: "The concept I have had for quite some time — A strong feeling the name of these Patriots, 'ICE,' should be changed to, 'NICE,' in that it will totally discombobulate Unpatriotic Reporters. For them to say, 'We went to a NICE Facility today,' as opposed to 'ICE,' they will go totally crazy!"
Nobody ever likes to talk about how Professor Ludwig von Drake was the first Disney character to be admitted to the United States under Operation Paperclip.
I can’t imagine anyone arguing that progressives should have ignored the bigotry of segregationist Strom Thurmond or the Red Scare antics of Joe McCarthy just because we didn’t live in those Senators’ states. The character and judgement of other states’ Senators directly impacts ALL Americans.
I think that those of us who don't live in Maine should probably just let the people who actually live in the state figure out their own stuff, tbh. If you don't like the candidate Maine Dems pick (a very reasonable position!), maybe just focus your energy on a different race.
This is like giving the American public a 50% stake in Big Tobacco. It just creates a perverse incentive for the government to help an inherently toxic and destructive business model succeed instead of questioning whether it should exist at all.
BREAKING: Bernie Sanders will introduce a bill to have the public take a 50% ownership stake in the country's biggest AI companies. The American AI Sovereign Wealth Fund Act would have the government tax AI companies, take 50% of the stock, and put it under public control.
I don't want Collins to win this race either, but if Platner makes it to the Senate he's going to be the worst candidate Democrats have put in power since Fetterman. No one can claim they didn't know what kind of human garbage Platner was after the Nazi tattoo story broke.
Breaking News: Amy Gertner, the wife of Graham Platner — the Democratic candidate for Senate in Maine — told his campaign in 2025 about sexual messages he sent to other women.
“Now witness the firepower of this FULLY ARMED and OPERATIONAL ballroom!”
seems bad
Well I see SOMEONE hasn't been watching classic Twilight Zone episodes. This was literally the central premise of "To Serve Man."
Eric Schmidt really said, in his much-booed AI graduation speech, “if someone offers you a seat on the rocket ship, you do not ask which seat, you just get on.” Unbelievable
Why do I get the impression that Trump imagines himself watching this fight from an elevated throne, waiting for the climactic moment when he gets to give the "thumbs down" sign as the victor holds a blade to his defeated opponent's throat?

A germ-theory based approach to protecting public health sure had a good run but it looks like the kooks are putting Pasteur out to pasture.
Backers of raw milk are pushing to make the potentially dangerous product more widely available and easier to obtain, even as a new outbreak — one of at least five in the past year — sickens US children.
"In the end, the Party would announce that two and two made five, and you would have to believe it. It was inevitable that they should make that claim sooner or later: the logic of their position demanded it." —George Orwell, Nineteen Eighty-Four
RFK Jr: "A Democratic senator claimed it's mathematically impossible to have a drug drop by 600%. I said, 'Well, if the drug was $100 and it raises to $600, that would be a 600% rise. If it drops from $600 to $100, that's a 600% savings.'" Trump: "Right"
I've been a fan of Robbie Conal's guerilla poster art since the 1980s; he has a delightfully grotesque portraiture style that emphasizes every pore and wrinkle. I think RFK Jr. may be the first one I've seen where the caricature is less visually disturbing than the real thing.
RFKJR is t-rump’s pick for Secretary of Health! The ANTI-VAXER himself?! I CAN’T EVEN! 🤦🏼 This wacko is crazy dangerous to the health of the American people. Like a death warrant. T-rump says, “He can do anything he wants.” Tell every senator—blue or red—not to confirm this Quack. 🚫🦆
MILLION DOLLAR IDEA: A “Sound of Music” remake in which the Von Trapp family hatches a plot to burn down the mansion with all the Nazis inside a-la “Inglorious Basterds.” During the “Goodbye, Farewell” number obviously.
These fucking ghouls are getting EXACTLY what they voted for; it's not like Trump ever made any real effort to pretend he respected their Christian beliefs. They wanted a President who would hurt all the people they didn't like and that's exactly what they got.
‘They’re not getting what they voted for’: Jesus meme lays bare GOP frustrations with Trump
The president’s attacks on the first American pope and a deleted Jesus meme are deepening fractures within his MAGA coalition.

If he really believes this, then one would think he would support efforts to reign in the government’s power to wage war without the consent of congress or kidnap you off the street without a warrant or whatnot.
Senator Rick Scott: "All government does it mess up your life. Government is always the problem."
Loved “Project Hail Mary,” a faithful adaptation of a story based on the delightful, fantastical premise that the nations of Earth would unite around a common cause and actually listen to science experts if the fate of our planet depended on it.
A friend of mine was bummed out that he broke an old hammer he inherited from his dad, and I cheered him up by explaining that any tool that breaks after a lifetime of honorable use gets to hang on the peg boards of Valhalla alongside Mjölnir.
Don’t let society convince you that you need to get a “beach body” this Spring. Every time I’ve found a body on the beach it was bloated with decomposition and pecked by seabirds anyway.
If you’re over 30, quote this with some life advice 🤌🏼
Creating a stricter code of conduct for this agency will do nothing given that they have proven time and time again that they won’t follow laws or guidelines that are already on the books. Dismantling ICE entirely is the only solution. Schumer isn’t rising to the moment.
SCHUMER says Democrats are “united” behind three DHS reforms 1/ End roving patrols; tighten the rules on warrants and require ICE to coordinate with local authorities. 2/ Enforce accountability; a uniform code of conduct. 3/ Require masks off, body cameras on, agents carry ID.
These idiots are so bad at metaphors. I'm no nautical expert but I'm pretty sure you could turn around even the largest ship in under an hour. Also, he's saying we're on the freaking TITANIC now? That's not very reassuring!
Vance on the economy: "You don't turn the Titanic around overnight"
Jesus Christ, this is like a politician making an appearance at Kent State University in May 1970 just to talk about football. YOU ARE NOT RISING TO THIS MOMENT IN HISTORY, MADAM.
Yes it’s cold in Minnesota—but we embrace it. John and I were in Hastings with Mayor Fasbender for Hockey Day Minnesota to watch my alma mater, Wayzata High School, take on Rogers. Photo taken with parents right after their son scored a goal!
As the saying goes, “Don’t threaten me with a good time.”
AI boom could falter without wider adoption, Microsoft chief Satya Nadella warns
I’d say we are at the “General Ripper from the movie Dr. Strangelove” level of government malfeasance, except that’s kind of unfair since the President in Dr. Strangelove recognized General Ripper was a nut and did everything in their power to stop him.
Despite limited science to support his conclusions, RFK Jr. claimed that fluoride causes “profound IQ loss” and linked water fluoridation to ADHD and thyroid, kidney and liver issues. ➡️ Read our full story: https://propub.li/3NjEbgm
Everyone knows that if there's one thing Trump has been consistent about it's putting the needs of indigenous communities above those of fossil fuel companies. /s
Turns out we invaded to protect indigenous communities in Venezuela. Who knew?
