Sometimes I'm struck by how little tech innovation my teenagers have seen in their lifetimes compared to what I'd seen by the time I was their age. I watched the rise of personal computers, the internet, and eventually smartphones. They've seen iPhones get slightly thinner and the rise of AI slop.
Just say Nolan’s “The Odyssey” and it was a well-made film but I can’t stop imagining how awkward it must have been for a 60-foot-tall cyclops to milk a flock of regular-size sheep. That’s some real fine motor skill right there.
In the entire history of the United States we have had one (1) President who entered office with zero history of public service. Most people can probably guess who that was. How did that work out, assholes?

DOGE always reminded me of the message that would pop up in the original “Sim City” game if you tried to save money by cutting the road maintenance budget. (If you ignored the warning you’d always end up with disastrous road closures that cost you more in the long run).

I can’t imagine anyone arguing that progressives should have ignored the bigotry of segregationist Strom Thurmond or the Red Scare antics of Joe McCarthy just because we didn’t live in those Senators’ states. The character and judgement of other states’ Senators directly impacts ALL Americans.

If you don't like the candidate Maine Dems pick (a very reasonable position!), maybe just focus your energy on a different race.
This is like giving the American public a 50% stake in Big Tobacco. It just creates a perverse incentive for the government to help an inherently toxic and destructive business model succeed instead of questioning whether it should exist at all.

A friend of mine was bummed out that he broke an old hammer he inherited from his dad, and I cheered him up by explaining that any tool that breaks after a lifetime of honorable use gets to hang on the peg boards of Valhalla alongside Mjölnir.
Don’t let society convince you that you need to get a “beach body” this Spring. Every time I’ve found a body on the beach it was bloated with decomposition and pecked by seabirds anyway.

Creating a stricter code of conduct for this agency will do nothing given that they have proven time and time again that they won’t follow laws or guidelines that are already on the books. Dismantling ICE entirely is the only solution. Schumer isn’t rising to the moment.
