Swaying where they stand. Without fully meaning to, they haven’t slept in days. The cold has crept slowly back in. Instinct over conscious logic has rooted them to the spot at their outpost in some attempt to benefit from the remaining warmth for as long as possible.
(What better place for a beast of void and purpose than the dark?)
// Surprising no one I got my shins kicked in by poor health again. I'm not claiming to be back to normal just yet but I will certainly be trying. And if I continue to do nothing but flounder like a dying fish then it's not that I lied it's that I failed
// Everyone’s been talking an awful lot about it lately(?) so unfortunately I have neither a proper writer tag nor enough accounts to make a starter pack with. But I do tend to manually list my other guys somewhere in my pinned, so there is at least that
[ Solo ] The economic and agricultural independence of Snowside moves apace. Lantana stands at the fringes of new fields in the process of being dug and tilled and sown with seeds from some far-flung place, sure to grow into plentiful crops that will serve as a new culinary staple and export.
// Yes and no. It isn’t from typical motion sickness so much as unrelated biology causing a miserable domino effect. Being a tree-based nature deity thing and 100% disconnected from solid ground is a terrible combination, and in their case causes what is best described as intense vertigo.
Does your muse get seasick?
// Unfortunately for everyone involved, since I have un-parodied Lantana for real for real, it means I will now go back to inflicting as much narratively thematic damage as possible. As is my way apparently, when not handicapped by writing for the bit™
@sunsetsol.bsky.social It's a bit of a gamble, visiting Lantana unannounced. If they cannot be found outside at their post, one runs the risk of entering to find them asleep at the hearth or farther in in a state not fit to describe in polite company—if not elsewhere entirely, often for worse.
@thescarveteran.bsky.social While those within their snow-quiet home are quick to notice the suffering of their beloved guardian, the feeling of isolation is an inescapable, inevitable companion, brought on gradually by the modest seclusion of their outpost's location. Near, but not near enough.
// Anyway starter call for mask-down-by-default Lantana as they were always intended please maybe 🫶
// I've been struggling with this for a while, but it's reached a new breaking point recently, so I need to do something about it for real. This isn't drama or anything, so I would appreciate anyone who has/is interested in interacting with Lantana taking the time to read this.
They need a whole week to be mask-down. Maybe even a month. No more thoughts, no careful empathy, no heightened sensitivity. Just comfortable quiet in mind and would-be speech both, and no expectations. Let them be the one guarded and soothed and doted on, for a change.
[ Solo ] There is poetic irony, too, in knowing they can't often see the expressions of others. To a vessel-in-part, everyone 𝘦𝘭𝘴𝘦 may as well now be the easily-misread would-be hollow thing, if only the criteria to be were so simple.
They could be a god, if they wanted. They don’t. They could be an abomination, a weapon, a worshipped throne. Pointless things, all. They want only the things they can never have. Such is the cruel irony of a life not meant to be lived.
// I am so completely out of the loop with UT/DR but know I am looking at all your guys with so much wonder and fondness from a respectful unobtrusive distance (maybe some day I’ll play)
(Making a noise that sounds suspiciously like a cough—)
// If “Thigh Thursday” is a thing now I might have to draw something to have ready for next week’s. For definitely no reason in particular that implies Lat is built like a goddess or anything
They miss Greenpath, in a way. Their stay there had been a short one, and blind as they already were, they never knew it for its sights. But they had come to know its verdant scent, its rounded leaves, its moss-covered stone and the shadow-cooled temple they’d recovered and self-nurtured in.
// I choose today specifically to be silly. Otherwise the horrors
Human holidays get another rare pass. It’s national Be Nice To Bugs Day. You legally have to be nice to her.
// I’ve been referring to the settlement Lantana lives in as “Snowside” as a placeholder for literal months now because I thought for sure it was already used by a certain indie game or something, but apparently not? So to hell with it that’s canon now
// The demons finally won. If you want another (and hopefully the last) of my sad niche bugs: @tarnished-crown.bsky.social exists now
The plant growth in nearly the entire village has doubled since the start of this “spring”. They might’ve overdone it. Just a tad.
There’s a steady trickle of water from the short cliff beside the road of their outpost, leading down into a shallow pool at its base. There may not be snow to faceplant into at the moment, but sitting in this little pond is the next best thing, they suppose.
// Lantana may be the type to thrive in this heatwave but I certainly am not. Rattling the bars of my cage let me go outside!! That’s where I write!!! I Guess if I can’t go outside I can finally draw them in “full bloom” like I’ve been meaning to for weeks now but RAAAAAAH
Too polite and well-trained for their own good. Just once, they wish they could justify going on an absolute rampage to vent some of this abstract frustration. If they can’t be “normal”, if they can’t live the life they need, then they may as well become the beast they were expected to be, no?
// I’m not brave enough to be the funny guy bc I always worry it’ll come off as “if you mention this I Have to respond to it because hahah get it guys they’re a bug too” but just know any time someone mentions bugs IC I am looking at it with this specific meme response in mind every time
Tripped. Did not bother to stand back up. It’s no moss, but it’s warm, and smells like dew. Fine then, they can have an impromptu nap right here. (It’s the least they’re owed after someone left their supplies in the path of a blind bug.)
// There’s a joke to be made here about how I have a full-void bug (Hallow), a more-Root-than-void (this one), but somehow don’t have a more-Wyrm-than-void one. I do. And it’s this idiot I’m still thinking about making an account for. One of these days the demons will get me and I’ll do it for real.
// Every day this week so far has been some variation of: “I will not make an account for another Hollow, Bsky has enough of my sad niche bugs” (5 seconds later) “But what if I made it anyway and it was just an easter egg to find instead of something I invest in making super public like this one”
