(HACK-uh) Posts are my thoughts, which means at least half of them are about The Boss. Ph.D. Candidate at UW-Madison studying topological photonics I’m essentially a physicist with the fun and charisma of a chemist. And an ego obviously of a physicist.

You would imagine that this would increase the media’s negative coverage of Trump, but the most likely scenario is that we get an interview where a journalist earnestly asks “are you concerned about the safety of your pool” and he’ll say “no, I don’t care about you” and his approval will jump 10 pts

NEWSMAX: The media is freaking out over the president swapping planes in Turkey. Some are saying journalists' lives were put in danger. What's the White House's reaction? KUSH DESAI: Leave it to the mainstream media to try to make the story about themselves

The Mitch McConnell situation is the ultimate litmus test for determining if someone cares about governance or just vibes. McConnell being dead weight in the Senate is basically the best case scenario! Why would Beshear want to call an election to replace him?

Garcia: This is ridiculous. I think Governor Beshear is right. We need proof that McConnell is actually serving the people. We had another member of Congress who was out for months. No one had any idea what was going on. The public deserved transparency.

I have a “friend who is too woke” take about this but it’s not important because the rest of the paper is so overwhelmingly obviously created by AI. Also there are a handful of “red flag” fields that I basically assume to be junk science if the results are not published in a notable journal.

A tool used to rephrase plagiarised text changed "final solution" to "mass killing of an ethnic group" in a chemistry paper. Now retracted thanks to a PubPeer user who spotted this. pubpeer.com/publications...

It’s baffling to me that non-Republicans want Mitch McConnell to be replaced. He’s hoarding a seat and not voting, so the best case scenario is that he does this for as long as possible.

Adobe Illustrator has some of the most egregiously annoying AI features in the 2026 edition and I might roll it back to an older version. If you crop an image but extend your crop further than the original, it automatically switches to “Generate” mode. That’s the opposite!

There are several variables in play*, but I got a cat (that I’m allergic to) and have been feeding him the Purina allergen-reducing food and after 3 weeks I don’t really notice any extra allergy issues. (I’m taking ~2 Claritin or Allegra per day and it’s possible my body has just accepted its fate)

I think the Daylight Saving Time issue is very silly because it already works very well. Maybe we can go back to the pre-2007 schedule but I can’t be convinced that the twice yearly clock change is that big of a deal.

This thread is about pedagogy, but I think it’s applicable to about everything that involves interacting with people and work created by people. “Trust but verify” is well known!

So there are a lot of people talking about this IHE story because, like @kjhealy.co says, this is basically lab-grown to stimulate The Discourse. I want to say something about how what happened here relates to what Jeff Moro calls Cop Shit and why this was handled exceptionally well.
