Curlew Conservation Update - Release pen construction Whilst the Curlew chicks are being cared for in Fota Wildlife Park,our teams are on the ground preparing for their phased release back into the wild. Release pens have been constructed on twocarrfully selected island sites.

🌿 Extensive Grassland Biodiversity Event Yesterday, we had the pleasure of attending the Extensive Grassland Biodiversity Event, co-hosted by Teagasc and The Heritage Council. The morning kicked off with insightful talks from John Feehan, John Muldowney, and Helen Sheridan.

We had a fantastic time at the UCD Festival on Saturday. We were in great company with BioBeo EU and BioOrbic Research Ireland. Wonderful to meet so many people and introduce them to our native Curlew and the other Wader birds supported by the Breeding Waders EIP.

Curlew eggs collection Curlew eggs have arrived at our project partner, Fota Wildlife Park! 🥚✨ But how did they get there? Our Headstarting Manager, Donal Beagan, shows the meticulous process of collecting these eggs from the wild, treating them with utmost care and respect.

Nest Protection Officer Training Module 2! NPO training continued this week with a focus on ethical trapping and fieldcraft. Thank you to all the NPO's who attended and to our fantastic instructors Mark & Seamus. We're thrilled to share this training with conservation ranger colleagues from @NPWS

At Breeding Waders EIP, we believe that working together is key to achieving our shared goals. We love connecting with stakeholders, gathering feedback, and implementing ideas that benefit both the birds and the community. Recently, we held two community and knowledge exchange meetings in Donegal.

Our Senior Project Manager Owen Murphy was delighted to attend the first meeting of the Leader's Forum on the Nature Restoration Plan today. Lots of thought provoking discussion. Getting this right is what will ensure we hand a clean, thriving, biodiverse Ireland to the next generation.
