I enjoyed the second episode of LANTERNS more than I enjoyed the first, but I still feel like if the first time your Green Lantern show features someone flying in space is at the end of episode two, you’re doing something incorrectly on a basic, fundamental level.

It was a detective show with a handful of special effects. A good detective show, and good special effects. But still.

That said I remain amused & baffled by the people online claiming to be big comic book fans who are like "I don't understand how this can be so dark but in the same universe as Superman '25!" as if massive style & tone shifts from title to title haven't been a part of comic books for decades.

As with a lot of (though not all) superhero media in which James Gunn has a hand, LANTERNS- at least in the first episode- is very good at being what it is, even if that's not exactly what I want from a show about Green Lantern.
