How do we theorize, historicize and imagine dissent amidst the detritus of an extractive comprador-settler global order? How do we speak of geo/epistemes of dissent that rupture our refusals, and yet have that rupture be free and in the interest of freedom? An aleatory montage of the times and spaces of dissent, the cumulative force of this dossier envisages entangled, messy and vitalizing histories of rupture. From the linked temporalities of Dakota lands and Palestine (Mikdashi) to the ecologies of radical care in Sri Lanka and Italy (Fernando), from the queer/trans movements of Turkey (Zengin) to the radical feminist anti-authoritarian legacies of Pakistan (Mitra), from the memories of life undone in East/West Germany to Somalia and the US (Weheliye), dissent remains a boundless project, eschewing any settled idioms of the geopolitical. These itineraries of dissent are developed, too, in a conversation between Sherene Seikaly and Anjali Arondekar. Let us imagine those histories together.
