Yesterday, on the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day, I heard three clear calls to action from Survivors. Today, I echoed those calls in the Senate.
Each year, on October 1, we mark Treaty Day, a time to celebrate the enduring nation-to-nation relationship forged through the Peace and Friendship Treaties.
September 30 is not just a date, it is a call to action. Let us carry this work forward and ensure that reconciliation — grounded in truth, justice, and healing — remains a lasting priority. Future generations deserve nothing less. #EveryChildMatters #TruthAndReconciliation #OrangeShirtDay
In advance of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation & Orange Shirt Day on September 30, I had the opportunity to visit students at Stonepark, Kensington, and East Wiltshire Schools to speak about a lesser-known part of Canada's history: Indian Day Schools.

I met with the Federation of PEI Municipalities to discuss municipal priorities, including how local governments can contribute towards a strong economy, sustainable infrastructure, and the prosperity of our communities. For more information and resources: fpeim.ca

I am deeply saddened by what happened at Kitigan Zibi this morning. Incidents of violent, senseless, death and the loss of two innocent children is especially devastating. My heart is with the family, and I stand with Kitigan Zibi and the broader Anishinābeg Nation at a time of profound grief.
I am devastated by the mass shooting in Tumbler Ridge, BC. My heart breaks for the victims, the teachers and staff, their families and loved ones, and the entire community enduring this unimaginable loss. Canada is grieving with Tumbler Ridge and keeping everyone in our thoughts and prayers.
