I’ve heard many people interview Jonathan Haidt, the person behind the movement to curb the presence of social media in children’s lives: David Remnick, Bill Maher, Katie Couric, Steven Bartlett. But recently, I heard someone question Haidt in a way that stood above the others.

Meta is officially a "public nuisance" -- that's the legal term -- in the state of New Mexico. In the ruling he issued last week in New Mexico's lawsuit against the company, Judge Bryan Biedscheid compared Meta to a factory.
We've been calling teens in New Mexico to ask what they think of the new rules a judge just ordered limiting their time on Instagram and Facebook, no push notifications during school, no like counts...and we've yet to find one who's on social media! Maybe this is a moot ruling?
This historic decision dropped yesterday. Question Everything had two reporters at the trial in Santa Fe, taking in the testimony and evidence the judge heard to come to this ruling. We've run two stories, and I think it's most in-depth reporting on this case. Links below🎧 ⬇️
"There's no situation in real life other than in the minds of people who want to get rich where it's okay to algorithmically introduce children to strangers and allow them to talk in secret."
This is really nice - and a testament to Question Everything's team. And, yes, to Ira ; )
Head and shoulders the best podcast being produced right now. Thanks @brihreed.bsky.social and the team for creating legit journalistic/narrative audio work that’s entertaining, engaging and inspiring. Honouring and extending the “house that Ira built”. @thisamericanlife.org
Got to feature some great investigative reporting from @emilyglazer.bsky.social and colleagues @wsj.com about whether the men playing a huge part in our current media capture and consolidation are legit friends — and why that matters. (Plus some $$ scoops too.) 🎧: podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/q...

No, Florida Man Matt Gaetz, sunscreen does not cause cancer. But that lie is spreading online after he platformed anti-vaccine epidemiologist Nicolas Hulscher on his show.
Watched Wanda Sykes' May special on @netflix.com last night, and she has a few jabs at Lindsey Graham in there. Prescient.
Did you know investigators in New Mexico ran a sting operation with a fake teenager that caught Meta allowing children to be targeted by sexual predators?
Have you paid attention to the case New Mexico has brought against Meta? It's...chilling.
That was a super interesting listen. An important reminder about how important journalism is both big and small scale.
Is that a good thing or a bad thing? Or...a neither thing?
That interview was like when Bob Garfield interrogated Glenn Beck for an On The Media segment.
Elon Musk is very focused on pronatalism. He’s criticized the decline in birth rates, calling it the world’s biggest “crisis”. And he's taking it upon himself to do something about it.
JD Vance made up a horrific and racist lie about a group of people, and now those people will be deported because the Supreme Court refuses to acknowledge, let along regard as disqualifying, the clear racial bias of this administration.
A big question is whether we'll now see major ICE raids or whether they'll do something more disguised, because ICE is toxic even in red areas. Either way, local press reports that this could mean an economic loss of up to $400 million. Way to own the libs, Ohio! newrepublic.com/article/2124...

One of the many interesting things Ashley St. Clair told me about Elon Musk: that he changed noticeably after she became pregnant with his child. "He became angrier." She says he also wanted to have a "legion" of children with her and asked her to have a C-section to make the baby's head bigger.
I cannot understand why these guys are so afraid of questions. As Don Draper once said, "That's what the money's for!"

Last week, I interviewed former MAGA influencer and the mother of one of Elon Musk's children, Ashley St. Clair, in front of an audience. Backstage afterwards, Ashley laid into me over the questions I asked. She demanded that we not release the interview publicly and to speak to our lawyers.

This line in the iconic overnight ode to the Knicks in @nytimes.com is about my daughter's best friend. (Proof attached.) Humbling to brush against history and have it memorialized in the hometown paper.
After 16 years in power, Hungarian prime minister Viktor Orbán was recently voted out in a stunning landslide. Suddenly, democracy-loving Americans are looking to Hungary for inspiration, instead of as a cautionary tale. How did Hungarians do this?
love joshua henry's look...and speech...and his hug with caissie levy backstage after both their wins.
Nice acknowledgement from Caissie Levy (best actress in a musical!) of her kids' babysitters for helping her do her job.
I've seen Ragtime, Giant, and Salesman. After some years away, I feel like I'm finally back in a decent theater groove this year.
