Vanilla JavaScript is now the second most popular “framework” among featured @sveltiacms.app users. The combined share of Astro and vanilla JS is almost 50%.

I’m on track to add 100 examples to the @sveltiacms.app Showcase this month! As for the framework stats, Eleventy maintains a narrow lead over vanilla JavaScript. New Hugo sites are rare these days.

Svelte’s uneven releases continue. v5.56.5 was shipped 4 weeks after v5.56.4 and contains 10 bug fixes, some of which could have been released earlier. Meanwhile, v5.56.7 was released with only one one seemingly unimportant patch change. They really have no release strategy.

If you post something on the job-postings channel on Svelte Discord and it gets deleted straight away, I’m the one who deleted it. Don’t post stupid hire-me comments there.

@sveltiacms.app does a weird thing: It’s written in Svelte, but it supports React-based plugins that mount Svelte components. It’s a framework sandwich! This unique architecture ensures compatibility with Netlify/Decap CMS. 🥪

Looks like the future of Ripple is uncertain, as the maintainer has started a React-like framework called Octane. So @sveltiacms.app has to stick with Svelte for now, but I’ll consider other frameworks at some point.

But, ugh, I should really think about moving away from Svelte. svelte.dev now joins nextjs.org and nuxt.com among many sites that crash when cookies are disabled.

We’ve got the 100th Astro site in the Sveltia CMS showcase. Astro and Eleventy have a roughly 2:1 share. It’s interesting to see SvelteKit in 7th place — its static adapter is a hidden gem.

I monitor a bunch of projects on GitHub to develop @sveltiacms.app showcase, but a lot of them never get completed. The failure rate? Maybe 50%. Thanks to AI, it’s never been easier to start new projects, but finishing them is still a big challenge especially for non-tech users.

I’m continuing to discover @11ty.dev sites using @sveltiacms.app! Here’s the current ranking from our showcase: 🥇 Astro: 93 (+3 from last week) 🥈 Eleventy: 42 (+4) 🥉 Hugo: 37 (+1) (Vanilla JS: 32) (+4) Jekyll: 22 (+2) Next.js: 18 (+2) Vanilla JS may soon replace Hugo in third place.

Mid-month framework stats from @sveltiacms.app showcase: 🥇 Astro: 90 🥈 Eleventy: 38 🥉 Hugo: 36 (Vanilla JS: 28) Jekyll: 20 Next.js: 16 Astro continues to soar. Lately, I’ve witnessed more Eleventy sites and fewer Hugo sites. The two are no longer neck-and-neck. Good news for @11ty.dev community!

Just found CSS `vertical-align: center`, which is only implemented in Firefox atm. So, have we finally got an equivalent of HTML `valign="absmiddle"`? The evolution of CSS is insanely slow. You have to wait decades, not years, for a new feature.

Font size switcher on the web… in 2026? It’s a controversial thing since early 2000s 🤔 Basically, you should never provide it. (I’m talking about you, City of Toronto)

Svelte’s release management concerns are not only about semantic versioning but also about uneven releases. They fix regressions, but they don’t always deploy these fixes quickly, despite being able to create releases multiple times a day. What’s the point of withholding a regression patch for days?

A great DX begins with practice, not tools. Following semantic versioning is a crucial best practice for any library or framework. Unfortunately, the Svelte team doesn’t really follow it, which is one reason why I stopped donating to Svelte.

Svelte team should really stop introducing breaking changes in their patch or minor releases. 🤬 It’s a shame for such a great platform. TypeScript 6 support added in svelte-preprocess@6.0.4 and of course there is a bug.
