by the end of 2023 i quit 8 ball pool because of all the cheaters and bots sadly, they're still plaguing the game 3 years later, so i made a burner/alt account just for funsies anyways, look at this really cool shot where i managed to escape out of a very sticky situation >w<

good news: the bots are gone, at least for now, until they find a different method to abuse :3 bad news: all of casual's existing problems (especially starting half-empty matches) are not just present, but they're much more prominent might quit tf2 again til the next update lol

okay i tried playing tf2 yesterday and it's gotten Really Bad lol we didn't have a single properly playable game, maybe a 6v6 at best friendly reminder that multiplayer gaming is a rapidly dying scene and companies simply can't or won't keep up with cheat developers anymore :3

i don't really play tf2 much so i'm out of the loop on what's happening but just want to remind everyone that bots stealing slots in tf2 isn't new this has been happening for over a year, just on lesser-popular maps, using a different method, and not nearly as widespread as now

there are now hordes of tf2 bots that queue for casual, intentionally prolonging their connection time to fill up all the player slots as if it wasn't bad enough that we barely just got rid of cheating bots a year ago while still having to deal with partied-up closet cheaters :3

whatever is left of my ever-dwindling free time has now been greatly interrupted further by faulty graphics drivers that freeze my entire computer every few hours :3 and then people dare to ask me why i lost hope in any sort of technological advancement for the past decade >w<

i don't know what's more fucked up, livestreaming your suicide or doing it by immolation... probably not in the right headspace either way, cancer is awful my first ever now-deleted video on youtube was of stick run and it was a huge part of my childhood rest in peace, otto 🕊

‘Stick Run’ creator Manuel Otto has died at the age of 30, the game studio has announced. His death follows an apparent suicide during a Twitch livestream.

the clanker uprising is upon us :3 i'm now getting more bot interactions on bsky than twitter lol there are hordes of tf2 bots that queue for matches and then leave not only am i getting more bot friend requests on steam, i now also get ghost friend request notifications too??

all my life i've been a "jack of all trades, master of none" - i enjoy being good at many things, but there are times i wish i was the best at something, for once... today, i've raced (well, stunted) a world record on an official campaign map in trackmania united forever :3

i was blessed by a couple days off work this week and i decided to put my ongoing personal projects on hold to degenmaxx through the contracts and degenmaxx i did >w< for the first time ever, i've gotten all the packages (about 30 hours of playing) in just under three days lmao

in today's edition of "the great unsolved problems of our universe" it is not possible to (conveniently) make a docker container restart itself after crashing, without also making it self-destruct on machine reboot

oh my FUCKING god death to docker compose

my docker compose project has FOUR (4) separate containers (which is batshit insane enough, but i digress) required to make my discord music bot run

for the bot itself to work, which is its own container, 2 of the 3 other containers must report healthy

i also added a `restart: unless-stopped` policy to these containers so they would boot back up as soon as they crash

this ignores the health checks, but it's fine because the containers will practically never all restart at once

can u guess what happens on machine reboot? :3

instead of them being started up normally, they are... all restarted at once!

this of course ignores all health checks, and the bot starts up in a permanently broken state unless restarted

because it's too fucking stupid to, oh i don't know, mayyyybe consider retrying the connection to the other containers after its startup ???

industry fucking standard software btw

if this didn't give me canceraids nothing will >w<

recently saw a notification on steam regarding multiple unread DMs naturally, since these DMs were probably 14+ days old, steam deleted the messages ⚠️ please DM me only on discord (i accept all friend requests :3) or bsky/twitter as a last resort if you don't want to use it ⚠️

revisited tf2 again after 2 weeks, this time with ALL maps selected and no ping limit while it was enjoyable (mostly just cuz i miss playing the game) the matchmaking issues were still there (albeit less apparent) and i can't see myself playing the game like this in the long run

i revisited tf2 a couple days ago, matchmaking is still busted 30 minutes of waiting for like 3 matches, one of which was across the ocean (got desperate and disabled ping limits) unless you only play the top 20 most popular maps in the tf2, good luck ever finding a match :3

yesterday's post of mine got me thinkin the hardest part about reverse-engineering isn't: - finding the right tools and learning how to use them - understanding how memory/the CPU works - writing and/or debugging in assembly the hardest part is... reading other people's code :3

brokenphilip@brokenphilip.bsky.social · 3mo ago

might not be the best implementation out there, but at least it's mine, so i know how it works & how to fix it ! i've written at least half a dozen parsers in my life and i will kay-eye-double-hockey-sticks someone if i ever have to write another one >w< github.com/brokenphilip...

in all my 14 years of programming i don't think i've ever written or come across a parser that isn't completely utterly deranged :3 spent half my day writing 154 lines of code (i didn't trust slopgpt) and half of them are comments cuz said code is completely unreadable otherwise

played tf2 for the first time in 2 months, it was okay ig wasn't expecting a tf2 update this early (but ofc it drops hours before i'm off to vacation lol) the existing matchmaking issues are not only still there, but they're affecting the new maps too, which is concerning :(
