Rene Descartes is my favorite philosopher. In college, I carried around a copy of his 1637 book, Discourse on the Method. He's the father of Analytic Geometry. He's known for saying, Cogito, ergo sum "I think, therefore I am." He liked gambling. His dad wanted him to be a lawyer.

After I left the entertainment industry, I became a philosophy and history teacher at a college. In my classes we read Tolstoy, William Golding, Judith Jarvis Thomson, Peter Singer… My students loved Tolstoy, and I remember showing up to class, and students not even enrolled in the course...

After I left the entertainment industry, I became a philosophy and history teacher at a college. In my classes we read Tolstoy, William Golding, Judith Jarvis Thomson, Peter Singer… My students loved Tolstoy, and I remember showing up to class, and students not even enrolled in the course would be sitting against the walls to listen and join the discussion. Reading all those stories, essays and having young, bright minds ask profound questions was an education in and of itself. Support the Liberal Arts!
