Rene Descartes is my favorite philosopher. In college, I carried around a copy of his 1637 book, Discourse on the Method. He's the father of Analytic Geometry. He's known for saying, Cogito, ergo sum "I think, therefore I am." He liked gambling. His dad wanted him to be a lawyer.

After I left the entertainment industry, I became a philosophy and history teacher at a college.

In my classes we read Tolstoy, William Golding, Judith Jarvis Thomson, Peter Singer…

My students loved Tolstoy, and I remember showing up to class, and students not even enrolled in the course would be sitting against the walls to listen and join the discussion.

Reading all those stories, essays and having young, bright minds ask profound questions was an education in and of itself.

Happy Hakurei Hump Day! ngl I saw a trailer for a game called HIPS N NOSES, and it looks really cool! The game is a roguelite that switches between café management and top-down shooter segments, it looks super unique and fun! I hope you have a wonderful day, I send love and positivity your way 💛☺️

My ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ review of TAXI DRIVER boxd.it/fEM5qT DeNiro's finest hour: From oddball into something much more terrifying...nutjob with savior complex. One of my favorite film endings. After squirm-inducing escalating tension, delivers exactly what it promises & still subverts expectations. #filmsky 📽

A ★★★★★ review of Taxi Driver (1976)

There are plenty of reasons to appreciate Martin Scorsese's TAXI DRIVER. 1) Seedy portrait of NYC 2) Voyeuristic view of eclectic nightlife, oftentimes shot from the vantage point of the "outsider" dr...

If you’re looking for something on the cheaper end to test out if fountain pens are for you? Pilot Kakuno > Kaweco Sport It’s cheaper AND so, SO much better. Inkflow, ergonomics, everything. I wish I tried one much, much sooner.

They say freedom of speech doesn't allow one to shout "fire" in a crowded theater. But what if there really is a fire? Do you stay silent or break the law to save lives? And, if you didn't shout it, would you be liable for keeping your mouth shut to preserve the sanctity of the law? Damn...

Good morning Bluesky ☀️ My grandad told me he saw the Titanic - from the outset he warned all the people that the ship would sink, but nobody listened to him. He knew he was right and didn't give up. He warned them again & again, until eventually they kicked him out of the cinema.

The Titanic sinking under a moonlit sky.
