My favourite image from the zine I'm working on

Lorynbrantz on instagram shares a post about their cupcake character being stolen for these new amazon ai shows. Reads as follows

I am horrified and disgusted by BuzzFeed taking my character, The Good Advice Cupcake, and giving it to an Al platform. My time at BuzzFeed was marked by continually being taken advantage of and lied to. They repeatedly assured me in good faith that they would never do anything with Cuppy without my input, yet offered me no legal options, insisting that I would never need them. The news that this character, who is based on my own personality and whom I created as a microphone to spread love and positivity, has been taken and turned into a soulless Al puppet feels like having my intestines pulled out of my body.

Somebody leaked the news to me early on that there were talks happening, and I pleaded with the CEO Jonah Peretti directly not to do it. Instead, he tried to talk me into signing an NDA. Obviously, I did not.

This is an assault on artists everywhere.

I encourage you to boycott BuzzFeed and any Al-produced or adjacent animation.

[ First Blood / P1-8] This 12-page comic took far longer than it ever should have but here we finally are: Vespertine's devastating backstory. I've never poured this much time into an OC project before so...this feels very vulnerable??? (pls be nice lol) CW: Child neglect / general violence

Page two, a family has taken the baby in and named him Mikhail. He bites the mother who tries to nurse him, does not speak for a long time and then quickly grows much taller than his adoptive sister, who is several years older than him....

He eats too much, he is feared among the village children and injures them when trying to play with them, he is not allowed to go to festivities for fear he might cause trouble. He begins to feel isolated. Page 4, he thinks back to his only true friend, his sister Sara. Always there for him, kind to him. She buys him a toy sword, cheers him up and accepts him as he reveals that his gender identity might not align with what people think.

Soon, they learn that Sara has been betrothed and is to be married and sent away. Page six, the sorrow grows. They cannot do anything to help Sara, feel alone...the memories fade into a 'now.' Mikhail stands outside in the snow, playing by themself.

They hear Sara's voice on the wind, distressed. Page 8, following the noise, they spot Sara being harassed by their fiance, who is trying to talk her into sexual activity. Resisting, she angers him and he strikes her face. It is then that Sara spots Mikhail, who is watching all this. She is afraid and tells Mikhail to stay away, trying to protect her little sibling.

(April 6, 2026) – The Artemis II crew captures a portion of the Moon coming into view along the terminator – the boundary between lunar day and night – where low-angle sunlight casts long, dramatic shadows across the surface. This grazing light accentuates the Moon’s rugged topography, revealing craters, ridges, and basin structures in striking detail. Features along the terminator such as Jule Crater, Birkhoff Crater, Stebbins Crater, and surrounding highlands stand out. From this perspective, the interplay of light and shadow highlights the complexity of the lunar surface in ways not visible under full illumination. The image was captured about three hours into the crew’s lunar observation period, as they flew around the far side of the Moon on the sixth day of the mission.

(April 6, 2026) – Earthset captured through the Orion spacecraft window at 6:41 p.m. EDT, April 6, 2026, during the Artemis II crew’s flyby of the Moon. A muted blue Earth with bright white clouds sets behind the cratered lunar surface. The dark portion of Earth is experiencing nighttime. On Earth’s day side, swirling clouds are visible over the Australia and Oceania region. In the foreground, Ohm crater has terraced edges and a flat floor interrupted by central peaks—formed when the surface rebounded upward during the impact that created the crater.

(April 6, 2026) - As the Artemis II crew flew over the terminator, the astronauts described this boundary between day and night as "anything but a straight line." Crater rims along the terminator stand out as "islands" in the night. Giant chains of craters emanating from the 3.7-billion-year-old Orientale basin can be seen scouring the surface, stretching almost to the terminator. This tells a geologic story: these crater chains produced by the Orientale impact event mar the surface of the relatively flat Hertzsprung Basin (center of this image), which means that Hertzsprung Basin must be even older than Orientale!

(April 6, 2026) – Earth sets at 6:41 p.m. EDT, April 6, 2026, over the Moon’s curved limb in this photo captured by the Artemis II crew during their journey around the far side of the Moon. Orientale basin is perched on the edge of the visible lunar surface. Hertzsprung Basin appears as two subtle concentric rings, which are interrupted by Vavilov, a younger crater superimposed over the older structure. The lines of indentations are secondary crater chains formed by ejecta from the massive impact that created Orientale. The dark portion of Earth is experiencing nighttime. On Earth’s day side, swirling clouds are visible over the Australia and Oceania region.

Finally playing with alcohol markers after avoiding them for approximately a decade, decided to start out with a mosh scene. It was way too fun to draw Photograph reference was taken by Christopher Bethell I used touch alcohol markers and winsor and newton drawing pens.
