Actual header on an email I just received from my Discover/CapitalOne account: "Bruce, congrats on your redemption at Amazon" Who knew you could get redemption at Amazon? I think Jesus might want to have a word with them . . .

Christopher Nolan’s film "The Odyssey" has focused attention on this classic. Full Cast Audio has a brilliant retelling from Geraldine McCaughrean, one of the UK's most beloved children's writers. All the adventure, heart, (and monsters!) are here for your delight! fullcastaudio.com/odysseus/

I've come to think that second best thing about THE ODYSSEY is watching Elon Musk and his merry band of chuds and incels helplessly flailing in anger over its success. Their impotent rage is hilarious.

Jane Yolen passed away this morning and I am in deep mourning. I had the great privilige of being friends with her for over four decades. We laughed together, did panels together, edited each other, and eventually wrote a book together. She was my editor for several books . . . 1/2

I am so stressed out by the world situation & the horrors of the Trump administration that I am contemplating writing a 600 page epic to be called THE TRANQUILIAD. It will be set in a cozy forest glen with a babbling brook and friendly animals, and nothing bad will happen for the entire 600 pages.

Regarding the Mac Barnett uproar: I just reviewed the 50 pages the current issue of KIRKUS allocated to Kid's & YA. Not much crud detected. I think Barnett must have misplaced the decimal point in his percent of crud comment. 9.47 would be closer to accurate than his absurd 94.7.

1/2 Last month I was at a book event in Minneapolis. Also there was Peter Beagle, who wrote THE LAST UNICORN, a book I've loved for 50 years. On the last morning Peter and his assistant joined me at breakfast in the hotel's otherwise empty restaurant, Peter was carrying a book about Broadway songs.

Last night I found out that I'm a clue in today's NYTimes Crossword puzzle. Though I have some serious issue with the Times, this is a life goal I didn't even know I had and I am still vibrating about it!
