Looks like my car’s sunroof drains were clogged with crepe myrtle tree debris and they overflowed inside with the recent rain. I guess the lesson is clean them out regularly? Fun times…

The refrigerated container of La Colombe espresso roast cold brew has me being lazy this summer. Probably should get back into making my own batches, but this ready to pour (with some added water) makes it so easy.

People really need to learn that not every image is AI. Sometimes it’s just Photoshop (or bad Photoshop). Sometimes it’s just Lightroom photo development processing. Even your iPhone camera has computer enhancement unless you shoot RAW.

"NJ's childhood vaccine requirements have not changed. A federal executive order signed on Aug 10 recommends fewer routine vaccines for children, a move that departs from decades of evidence and is likely to increase the risk of preventable illness and death to children across the nation." #NJDOH

Commissioner Dr. Raynard E. Washington

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
August 18, 2026
New Jersey Department of Health Statement on Federal Changes to Childhood Vaccine Recommendations
TRENTON, NJ - New Jersey's childhood vaccine requirements have not changed. A federal executive order signed on August 10 recommends fewer routine vaccines for children, a move that departs from decades of evidence and is likely to increase the risk of preventable illness and death to children across the nation. However, the President’s order does not affect New Jersey law, and the schedule families and providers rely on remains in place.

"Protecting children from preventable disease is one of the most fundamental responsibilities we hold, and it is one we take seriously," said Dr. Raynard E. Washington, New Jersey Health Commissioner. "Families deserve clear, science-based guidance, not confusion. The evidence behind childhood vaccines is clear, it has not changed, and New Jersey will continue to make sure every family can access the vaccines that keep their children safe."

The Department of Health continues to recommend that children receive their vaccines on time, at the ages proven to protect them best. Vaccines remain among the safest and most effective tools we have, and the claim that they cause autism has been studied exhaustively and disproven. Reviving it does not help families; it draws attention away from the work of keeping children healthy.

The Department will use its full authority to keep vaccines accessible across New Jersey and to give families, providers, schools, and local health partners information they can trust. Parents and caregivers with questions should speak with their child's pediatrician or healthcare provider.
Residents can find New Jersey's childcare, preschool, K-12, and higher education immunization requirements, along with help finding low- or no-cost vaccines, at nj.gov/health/vaccines.
New Jersey also stands by the statement released by the Northeast Public Health Collaborative, of which the state is a founding member. The coalition of states, territories, and large cities released the following statement:

“The Northeast Public Health Collaborative (NEPHC) firmly stands in support of science-based vaccination recommendations. Accordingly, the NEPHC reaffirms its earlier endorsement of the 2026 childhood and adolescent immunization schedules issued by the American Academy of Pediatrics, which have also been endorsed by numerous other medical organizations. These schedules reflect the current scientific evidence on vaccine safety and effectiveness and are based on the specific disease risks and healthcare delivery context in the U.S.

“Undermining confidence in the measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccine — used for over five decades — during the largest measles outbreak in decades will lead to additional measles cases and, potentially, deaths. Immunizations save lives, and parents should be able to trust that the health recommendations they receive are based on science.”

Thousands of Chlo, Chloe, Chloee, Chloo, etc. bot accounts doing the post almost exactly same and spam follow random accounts thing on here tonight. It was a bunch of Erika’s yesterday. Wonder who we’ll get tomorrow.

Anyone else noticing new rounds of grocery shrinkflation the last few months? Even the family pack of chicken breasts that used to be 8 pieces, then went down to 6 during height of pandemic, now seems to be down to 5 pieces. At least we can bulk those tacos up with lettu… oh, wait…

We apologize for yesterday’s service problems. Bluesky experienced a DDoS attack—a flood of junk traffic meant to knock servers offline—over a period of 24 hours. We have upgraded our defenses in response, and we continue to monitor the situation. Follow @status.bsky.app for any updates.

Some old or dormant accounts appear to be either reactivating with spam/phishing content or they are actively being hijacked. Many posting same content that brand new spam accounts have. Be extra cautious with links here today.

Every time I see died of brain bleed or brain hemorrhage in the news, I can’t help but wonder if they had undiagnosed cerebral cavernous malformations (CCMs) and if that will be my fate too.

Apparently #FinCEN is officially over and all data previously reported by Small Business owners under legal threat will be deleted by the Government. Can’t help but think this will only help those trying to commit financial crimes.

FinCEN Permanently Ends Beneficial Ownership Reporting Requirements for Millions of Small Business Owners; Will Delete Information Previously Reported by U.S. Persons

Today, the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) is issuing a final rule that permanently removes the requirement for U.S. companies and U.S. persons to report beneficial ownership information to FinCEN under the Corporate Transparency Act. The final rule is effective on its publication in the Federal Register. FinCEN today also announced that it will delete previously reported information by U.S. persons—now exempt from the reporting requirements—from the beneficial ownership information database. Under the final rule, foreign entities that are reporting companies will still be required to report beneficial ownership information for foreign individuals.

FinCEN Removes Beneficial Ownership Reporting Requirements for U.S. Companies and U.S. Persons, Sets New Deadlines for Foreign Companies

WASHINGTON––Consistent with the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s March 2, 2025 announcement, the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) is issuing an interim final rule that removes the requirement for U.S. companies and U.S. persons to report beneficial ownership information (BOI) to FinCEN under the Corporate Transparency Act.

In that interim final rule, FinCEN revises the definition of “reporting company” in its implementing regulations to mean only those entities that are formed under the law of a foreign country and that have registered to do business in any U.S. State or Tribal jurisdiction by the filing of a document with a secretary of state or similar office (formerly known as “foreign reporting companies”). FinCEN also exempts entities previously known as “domestic reporting companies” from BOI reporting requirements.

Thus, through this interim final rule, all entities created in the United States — including those previously known as “domestic reporting companies” — and their beneficial owners will be exempt from the requirement to report BOI to FinCEN. Foreign entities that meet the new definition of a “reporting company” and do not qualify for an exemption from the reporting requirements must report their BOI to FinCEN under new deadlines, detailed below. These foreign entities, however, will not be required to report any U.S. persons as beneficial owners, and U.S. persons will not be required to report BOI with respect to any such entity for which they are a beneficial owner.
