RE: https://mastodon.social/@Edent/117037401763972219 Well done, and I totally agree. Sometimes things can be improved by doing something instead of just complaining.
RE: https://mastodon.social/@Edent/115733029958988881 Fair play, I complained to BarclayCard about their app not working on Graphene - and now it does 😊 Might be coincidence, of course, but it's always worth complaining directly to organisations - not just mouthing off on social media.

Ah buggeration. The Barclays app has stopped working with #GrapheneOS. Complains the device is rooted (which it isn't). Mobile site works well, although is a bit more of a faff for login.
i didn’t think it was physically possible, but there’s finally something worse than `curl | sh`
As an Open Source person I am apparently expected to keep doing things for free so I get invited to participate in EU policy events in Brussels, with not even an attempt to offer me compensation for travel, lodging or time. So I decline.

In the overnight spam haul at $DAYJOB I found a message from Kevin Liu<kevin@cnnetregistry.com> trying to hawk various .cn domain versions of the name the company rebranded away from some months back. Basically the same message as in […]

# littleMesh addendum: readable handles and replaceable relays Yesterday's post left one thing unsolved. Your littleMesh identity is your Ed25519 public key, which is great for security and terrible for a handle: nobody wants to type _@alice@a1b2c3...52-characters....mesh.littlefedi.social_ […]

littleFedi introducing littleMesh We've been buried in littleFedi work lately, and there's one piece I want to talk about because it's the one I'm genuinely excited about: **littleMesh**. The problem is an old one. Federation assumes you have a domain, a public IP, an open port, a TLS […]

You’re enjoying the evening breeze on the terrace at sunset. The air gets a bit cooler, gently brushing against your face. Suddenly, you hear a noise and turn toward the neighbours' house: the septic tank truck is pulling in, as their drain pit unleashes its full olfactory power. Safe to say […]

A few months ago, a client asked me to shave about €200 a month off our agreement. "We’re trying to cut back on expenses", he said, "to boost our cash flow." I was hesitant, but hey, I agreed. Fast forward to this morning: one of his team members calls me asking for help because - and I quote - […]

I have a special old keyboard I shall refuse to ever throw away. It was the keyboard I was using while I was working on "Bode3D", an old attempt at a voxel game I was working on when I was a young teen. I got it far enough that I could walk and fly around and explore.... The funny thing is […]
