Sometimes the things LLM super-fans talk about remind me of the types of things crytpo bros used to talk about

Hey friends. Still looking for work!
Hey y'all, putting out the bat signal: I'm looking for full-time, part-time, or contract work in product design or frontend development. ("Design engineering" if you're trendy.) Over a decade of experience building design systems for startups, healthcare, civic tech + more. ky.fyi
Trolling through OSS projects and fixing/merging a few things today. Haven't had the mental energy to do this in a while.
The user experience of opening @discord.com and having a 50% chance of just having to sit there and wait on it to "Download update x or x..." is awful.
We walked Broadway from Inwood to lower Manhattan today 😎 Now it is time for a sushi celebration
LLMs usage seems to result in a kind if death of open source communities. I’ve been feeling this for months and I’m pretty sad about it I wonder if a natural consequence of this will be a large scale loss of motivation from maintainers, resulting in the death of the projects themselves longer term?
Just read ky.fyi/posts/ai-bur... by @ky.fyi 😮💨 The "psychic toll of AI" section and the self-questions that follow it hit so hard with me. My partner and I talk a lot recently about the sense of loss I feel for a career I once loved and the community around it that seems just be gone.

Hi, friends. The last 6 years have been a blast, but I just don't like being on The Internet anymore. I'm leaving DevRel, and I wrote a little bit about why. Look after yourselves, and each other. Love, Salma
Goodbye, forever, probably.
I’m leaving developer relations and developer education. Rather than disappear completely unannounced, I wanted to tell you why.

If Apple cared more about their users, they would provide a global default setting to disable audio in ads.
After a month off for recovery, I went on my first run this morning (3 miles). The heat was rough but my leg feels great! No soreness or weakness. I am super happy about this 🥳
When did iPhone apps become slopfests of ads for other gambling apps? And why is it just okay? Apple is still supposedly a “premium” product
The circular nonsense you get when interacting with Google's "AI Mode" search is frustrating and weirdly bad considering how strongly they are pushing this stuff.
“You are absolutely right. I mixed up <…>” “You caught me red-handed. I completely made up <…>” AI summaries are kind of garbage when you take a closer look at them
My gym (Equinox) rejected my request to pause my membership for a month due a running injury. Although I provided ER discharge papers showing that I needed stitches in my knee, they said the note didn’t specifically say I couldn’t go to the gym 😕
Thanks for ripping off my hard work, Sam and co. Really hope you make the big bucks for all of your “efforts”
It’s been two weeks since I fell while running cut my leg up pretty badly, and the cuts are healing a lot slower than I had hoped. Running is a big outlet for me and I’m feeling pretty discouraged about the limited mobility.
Can we all just start throwing lil water balloons at anyone who uses the word “agentic” in conversation? Yeah? 🥹
Do we as a country not produce anything other than AI anymore? Is that the reason that every ad I see is just for some new shitty AI feature that no one ever asked for? I can’t be the only person who hates this idiocy.
Went to Times Square AMC today to catch a matinee and it was pretty weird. Area between concessions and the auditorium had a church group set up, handing out pamphlets. Auditorium door didn't even unlock until 9 min before movie start time. Screen didn't even turn on until 21 min after start time. 🤷🏼♂️
We’re on Apple Music now too for anyone who missed it! music.apple.com/us/album/gho...

Using LLMs for ingestion and summary purposes (research) is potentially great, but generative AI represents a huge downgrade for humanity. First it steals from us and then it cheapens the things that set us apart as individuals I don’t understand how so few of my peers or age group see it this way
Took a pretty bad fall on my run today. Broke two teeth and needed a few stitches in my knee afterward 😮💨 Feeling like a idiot over here

We're submitting the new album tonight! Took a lot longer than I had originally thought, but we did add another new track so it was worth it Will share some new tunes here shortly! 😃
So far, the main thing I miss is that Google's NLP was better, but it's lovely to just get websites as search results again. And Apple Music seems at least as nice as Google Music, plus the migration between the two was pretty seamless. (Apple even let me directly import my playlists, etc)
After many years of using and (mostly) liking Google, I’m done. Their AI summaries are just blatant theft from the websites/developers/people they previously claimed to work with, and it’s just gross. Hopefully Ecosia will be better.
