Good morning, Campers! 🏕️ #CampRevPit is coming to an end soon. We hope you had lots of fun, met new friends and put down some words! On the last day of camp, #ShoutOut a writer friend who's inspired you, helped you along your journey, or just been a great Camp buddy. 👏

On a grassy green hill beneath a starry night sky, the caterpillar nibbles on a tree while the mantis and the firefly work on their stories. The mantis lays in the grass writing in her journal with a fountain pen and her very tall stack of papers beside her. The firefly sits in the branches of the tree with a laptop. The firefly’s butt is glowing brightly so the mantis can see to write.

One of the best parts of getting to write this was creating the world of the Conservatory. From elevator clouds, to rainbow ivy climbing up stone walls, to trees woven together like Celtic knots, my imagination was set free. It even smells like baking brownies & cookies. I would visit in a heartbeat

For our Discussion Den today, #CRPFantasyFoxes, let's talk setting! As fantasy writers, I know we love to worldbuild, so what is a setting in your book you’re obsessed with? Is it a place you’d like to actually visit? Is it inspired by somewhere you’ve been? Let us know!

1. An aboriginal Rainbow Serpent sneeze sparks and lights the Conservatory on fire 2. A medieval Cockatrice has breath so bad that Jack nearly passes out 3. A Brazilian Encantado (which is like a pink dolphin) is saved by a puppet show Which one is the lie? #crpfantadyfoxes

Good morning, #CampRevPit! 🏕️ Tuesday is #CampTrivia time! Post 3 weird facts about your WIP: 2 truths, 1 lie. Let us guess the fake.

A well-fed green caterpillar sits on a little hill to the right of the screen, eating a pile of pages labeled with the words “story notes.” On the left, a Camp RevPit flag waves at the end of a flagpole. There is a blue sky with fluffy white clouds in the background. The following text is on the picture: Day 9 CampTrivia

Hmm. RomCom. For kids. I'll try to put it into a middle school romance: Jack has his first crush, and it's on his best friend. Good thing they are both recruited as Keepers to save mythological creatures together. Can their bond withstand the adventure, or will their friendship go extinct instead?

Happy Monday, #CRPFantasyFoxes! I hope you're ready to start the week with a fun game in our Discussion Den! It's genre roulette! Below this post will be a gif of genres 👀 Screenshot it and whatever it lands on, pitch your WIP in that genre!

Congratulations on making it to Day 3 of #CampRevPit, #CRPfireflies! For a fun prompt today: describe your story with emojis! (Bonus: Also do this for your main character's arc) Here's mine: Story: 😱🎱🌲🐔😡🥺🔥☺️ MC: 🫥🤔😡😳🤔😔😌🥰

MC (Jack) Fancast: Roman Griffin Davis* I think he could play the anxiety-ridden, hopeful, kind kid with the depth and sweetness it requires. Plus, his middle name is Griffin! #CRPFantasyFoxes (*Roman Griffin Davis was nominated at age 11 for playing Jojo in JoJo Rabbit)

I love to crochet and making amigurumis is my favorite! I also love making crochet mandalas, including one that is 4 feet in diameter. 🧶 Jack's hobby is sketching. His hand always has pencil smudges on it from leaning on his sketchbook whenever he has free time. ✍️ #CRPFantasyFoxes

For today's Discussion Den #CRPFantasyFoxes, tell us about a hobby of yours (share a pic if you want!) or a hobby you'd like to try AND tell us a hobby your MC has (doesn’t even have to be mentioned in the story)! Who knows, you might find someone in camp that you or your MC share a hobby with!

Good morning, #CampRevPit! 🏕️ Today, we give your villains a moment in the spotlight. What would they say your story is about? Pitch it from your villain's perspective. #VillainVoices

"Jack Allen was pretty good at everything he tried—the problem was that he tried very few things." Opening line of the book tells you most of what you need to know about where he starts the story. And then the fun begins! #CRPFantasyFoxes

Good morning, #CampRevPit! 🏕️Let's start the day with your main character! Use #OneLineMC and share a line from your manuscript that tells us all we need to know about your MC’s personality.

Hello campers! Since we’re the #CRPFantasyFoxes, I thought we could call our prompts the Discussion Den! 🦊 For today's prompt, I’m wondering what’s your favorite part of writing a book and why? The opening? Plot twists? Relationships? The end? Let us know!

What’s your favorite part of writing a book?
The opening? Plot twists? The end?

In my novel, the MC sketches as he learns about the Conservatory, and my son is actually making them, like this map of the Atrium. It well represents where I am: I have everything labeled, I know what direction everything is in, and I am oriented. But none of it is real yet. #CRPFantasyFoxes

A hand-drawn map, in pencil outline only, of the inside of an Atrium, representing the inside of the Mythical Creature Conservatory as described in the novel and drawn by my 10yo son.
In the center of the vertical paper is a hexagon with hexagonal platforms in the middle labeled "UpKeep Area". Each wall of the hexagonal Atrium has an archway door leading to the outside areas:
On the bottom wall of the hexagon is an arch with the logo of the "MCC" on it. There is an arrow pointing to the left of that wall labeled "Portraits and Decorations" (inside the Atrium hexagon).
Below that, it opens up to a space labeled "Courtyard" which has little flowers and trees sketched around the perimeter.
The bottom left, outside the wall of the Atrium hexagon is labeled "Nourishment Room."
Above that, beyond the top left wall of the hexagon is labeled "Supply Room" and has little boxes throughout it.
Outside the very top of the hexagon wall is a semicircle with openings to the three Sanctuaries: "Land", "Water", and "Air".
Continuing around the perimeter of the hexagon walls clockwise, the top right is labeled "Library" and the bottom right is labeled "Wellness Clinic."

Good morning, #CampRevPit! 🏕️ Today, please draw us your #CampMap: Use a visual metaphor to describe where you are with your project. Are you lost in the woods? Climbing a mountain? Sailing the seven seas?

On a grassy green hill beneath a starry night sky, the firefly clings to a branch and dangles a tied stack of story notes from a stick with the label “Darlings” written on the top page. The caterpillar reaches for the tied bundle of notes with mouth wide open, ready to chow down. Behind the tree, which still has bite marks from the caterpillar’s previous meal, the mantis holds her claws to her face in dismay. Dawn is beginning to tint the horizon red. The image has the text: Day 2: #CampMap

My camp dreams: find more awesome people to share stories with (one of the bonus benefits of writing this story is connecting with other writers, who are curious and creative by their very nature), find more critique partners, and cheer each other on. Let's go #CRPFantasyFoxes !

#CRPFantasyFoxes, it looks like we're all getting settled into our bunks! How about a quick prompt about what your goals for camp are? Maybe you want to find a CP, have support for the trenches, or get better at sharing what you're working on? Let us know and see if someone else has the same goals!

accomplish by the end of camp?

Hello fellow campers! I am querying THE MYTHICAL CREATURE CONSERVATORY, a MG fantasy mythology mash-up. What if mythological creatures ceased to exist when we stop telling their stories? A very anxious kid named Jack must prevent their extinction at a magical Conservatory. #CRPFantasyFoxes 🦊
