1/I just spoke to Ben Osorio, the lawyer on this case, about a key detail: Though Fatima's visa expired, she applied for asylum and was waiting for a resolution. Her work permit is valid through Dec '29. This is all customary bc of government backlogs, not a willful choice to stay without status.
