Bookseller in Seattle, lost in a stack of books. Please bring me fries.

I'm currently reading and loving Walking by Sevgi Soysal; translated by Maureen Freely. Many thanks to @themountaingoats.bsky.social for making it happen! #WITmonth

I'll tell you something else deeply meaningful to me today: @archipelagobooks.bsky.social is publishing Sevgi Soysal's "Walking." It's the first translation I've sponsored, something I've wanted to do for a long time. When I read Soysal's "Dawn," I knew I wanted to see her other work in print.

end page from Archipelago Books' English publication of Sevgi Soysal's "Walking." It reads: "Archipelago gratefully acknowledges John Darnielle, who generously supported this translation of Walking. Archipelgao Books is a non-profit publisher devoted to promoting cross-cultureal exchange through innovative classic and contemporary international literature archipelagobooks.org"

My stack for Women in Translation Month! All forthcoming later this year and into 2027. Fever Dream is a reread I read a very early galley several years ago. Many thanks to all the publishers for sending me these books. Titles are in the alt text. #WITmonth
