Gemma, eight weeks, wants her future adopter to know that she enjoys watching YouTube while eating chicken nuggets. Actually, the YouTube is optional. Just nugs are perfectly fine if you want. She’s flexible. #animalshelter #shelterlife

“This is Cream and Cheese. Adopted from you last year in October and they are doing amazing. “Cream and Cheese are from the litter who were left outside the vet in a cereal box when they were about three days old.“ #animalshelter #whitecats
Adopted December 2025. “A ‘pupdate’ on Sleigh: She’s grown into a big girl and is oh so loved!” 🧡🐾 #animalshelter #pupdate
Prosciutto, one of the 16 kittens we placed on California Adopt-a-Pet Day. “She has already brought fresh laughter into our home.” #CAAdoptAPetDay
That kitten you see being given away on Facebook will need you to invest a pretty penny in her health and well-being in just the first few months. Everything see here, and more, is included in our very low kitten adoption fee. You'd pay hundreds trying to do it all yourself. #animalshelter
Salami, adopted May 23, “loves her poodle sister Olivia Benson.” 🧡🐾
Why yes, we did plop a litter of foster kittens in a bucket for safekeeping while drawing up their six-week vaccines this afternoon. These sugar cookies need another couple weeks in the oven, but fear not, we have others available right now. #animalshelter
“Ginger (formerly Ms. Claws) from last December on the left and then Jasper and Cookie on the right from your 2023 reindeer litter. All happy and healthy and best friends.” #animalshelter #calaverascounty
Dime is a perfect 10! This just-over-one-year-old beauty has it all. The transferring shelter used her as a “helper dog” in playgroups, because Dime gets along beautifully with everyone. #animalshelter #shelterlife
“We have all fallen in love with Tinkerbell. She fits right in with our family already and we enjoy her personality so much. “Thank you to the people who helped us adopt. You made us feel like we were making the best choice for our family and provided all we needed to have a great start with Tink.”
We were a brief layover for a tiny little passenger Saturday. Taco's foster mom was going out of town, so she brought him back to us for another fabulous foster to pick up and take home for a few days. We're like Grand Central Station with fluffnuggets in and out at all hours. #animalshelter
Recent adoptee Esmeralda just returned for her spay (we transport the animals to and from the veterinary offices for their new families, to ensure everyone gets fixed), and our “bonus staffer,” Bodie, was delighted to see his friend again. #animalshelter
An update on the baby gherkins (Ms. Pickles’ pups) on their four-week birthday yesterday. As always, it’s a total cuteness overload. We are so grateful to the foster family for the amazing job they’re doing. These behbehs are being wonderfully socialized and receiving the very best of care.
Nurse Ziggy is on duty! This recent adoptee is being extraordinarily attentive while his kiddo is under the weather. 🧡🐾 #animalshelter
Ms. Pickles and her six pups are doing wonderfully in their foster home. Now three weeks old, their eyes are open and they’re hitting all their milestones. Pickles remains a proud and doting mama. The puppies are still being weighed daily and everyone is growing and thriving. #animalshelter
Adopting a kitten we’ve had in one of our foster homes means s/he’s been exposed to a wide variety of life experiences. When one of those experiences is the pure awesomeness that is Wyatt, it’s even better. (Tarzan will be available in a little over a week, give or take.) #animalshelter
Aries, 18 months old, is a bit of a phantom around here. If she hears strangers (meaning anyone who might adopt her) coming, she hides in her favorite spot inside a kitty house on our catio. We’re looking for a special person to take a leap of faith and bring her home. She’s truly delightful.
Happy first birthday to Gizmo, adopted last year by his foster family. “He is a smarty pants and lots of fun. He can also be a little monster too, when the humans don't want him to get into something, like the treat/snack drawers.” #animalshelter
Springtime greetings from Paw, age five months, who's decked out in his Easter finery to wish a happy holiday to those who celebrate. Happy Easter! 🐰🐾 #animalshelter
Our best guess is that Rolex (male, one blue eye) and his sister Cartier are “shepskies,” or shepherd/husky mixes. They are about 12 weeks old. They are both very people-oriented. They enjoy other dogs, too — but if there’s a person present, that’s their preference. #animalshelter
Slow your roll, folks. Kitten season isn't fully here yet. Kitten season peaks in our area in summertime. You'll find any color/gender you can imagine if you can hold on till then. We'll have many kittens in the meantime, but we'll have them absolutely coming out our ears during the summer months.
As Easter approaches, please remember that those darling bunnies live a very long time, require specialized veterinary care, and breed like, well... Still gotta have one? Many shelters and rescues have them available for adoption, and they’re already spayed/neutered to boot. #animalshelter
Princess Peach proudly presents: Orange Couch 4.0! This is the fourth iteration of our signature lobby furnishing. There's nothing more awesome than a fresh, never-peed-on, not-yet-sagging orange couch. Get ready to see its debut in our next adoption photo! #animalshelter
Any Jack Black fans in da house? 🎵PEACHES, PEACHES, PEACHES PEACHES PEACHES... 🎶 Our dear Princess Peach is a mere 6.5 pounds. She adores EVERYONE. #animalshelter
“I’m kind of a big dill.” 🥒 Meet Howdy, age one, at our Angels Camp adoption center, open Wednesday through Saturday from 11-5. 🧡🐾 #animalshelter
When you’ve looked absolutely everywhere at mealtime and can’t find that one last cat. Come adopt Queso! He’s super fun. We swear. #animalshelter
Recent adoptee Dahlia, now Dali (pronounced “Dolly”) seems to realize that she hit the jackpot in her new home. Just look at that smile!
Six-month-old Queso is most assuredly not of the spicy variety. This boy is sweet and smooth, more like Velveeta than a traditional nacho topping. And srsly, how gorgeous are his classic tabby markings? He’s simply stunning. #animalshelter #orangecat
“Always drink upstream from the herd.” — Howdy probably This one-year-old cattle dog cowboy is ready to meet you! And for the record, this is a real photo. We don’t mess around with AI in these here parts. #animalshelter
We completely understand the urge to help. But when you find young kittens who are not underweight and not dirty, sick, or injured, please leave them alone. Their best chance at survival is being raised by their mom. Remember: Kidnapping is not "rescue." #animalshelter
