This is why when I'm asked to write external letters for promotion/tenure, I ask (in addition to CV and expectations) to be sent a list of resources made available to the candidate to support those expectations (e.g., research pool, conference/travel funding). Can't expect but not support.
Robert Kelchen@robertkelchen.com · 4w agoI am expecting a wave of red-state public universities limiting the ability to employees to participate in professional associations that are deemed too "woke." This case out of Texas is just the beginning. Also, with budgets tightening, conference support is going to shrivel anyway.
