I haven't been doing very well on Physics GRE practice, and I feel like it's weighed against me because a lot of it runs on swift recognition and recall for trick questions which, having taken exclusively grad classes, I'm not used to. Not that it's unfair, but it's something I never trained for.

I feel like a total dork listening to video game OSTs sometimes (in principle, I think video game music is beautiful, but I'm a person with a lot of shame), but The Last Guardian's soundtrack sometimes does the trick for my stress better than therapy. I can feel my gray hairs retrieve their color.

After two months of back-and-forth and the testing organization questioning my diagnosis in a dehumanizing charade, I finally received testing accommodations.

Made some grass you can trample. I don't know if I did it correctly, but after a lot of documentation and tutorials I wrote a small shader that would randomize the sway of the grass texture. Then, I put the scene in a TileMapLayer and duplicated. I don't know how to use MultiMeshInstance2D.

Literally started like yesterday—don't laugh. I learned how to do a few movement things, added an NPC with random movement, and implemented a working dialog system with chat area detection. Basic stuff, but it was more of a pain in the ass than I expected. Also learned pixel art for the first time!

At the same time with learning GDScript, I think I need to get back into learning frame-by-frame animation. I went on a roll this summer doing some of the key exercises.

I'm quite excited for my research in the coming half-year. This summer, I made a few discoveries that require investigating. In particular, I enumerated a number of novel theories and analyzed their behavior when you adjust their energy/length scale, which we call the renormalization group. 1/7

Never introduced myself. I'm can. Most people who knew/know me knew/know me as an artist online. Eventually, somehow, I became the "physics fella" in my circles. Now, I'm back to being an "art fella". I mostly do quantum field theory/string theory with a focus on non-perturbative aspects of both.

I think the stress of graduate applications—especially in high-energy theory, which is especially competitive—has been making me ponder a lot on what my goals in life are. I love what I do in quantum field theory. I believe in it. I also recognize just how grueling everything surrounding it is. 1/N
