I’m kind of glad about the direction I’m taking my art nowadays, especially since the stuff I used to make was especially trite. It’s just that I feel I’ve had a late start to making art that makes me feel a little alive, so I don’t really know what I’m doing. Lots of wishing that I could do better.

I feel bad about all the art spam, but I recently picked up this "try doing one sketch per day" thing so that I have some semblance of a life outside of PhD apps and research.
I feel like it's a bit unhealthy to use only a single no-pressure hard brush and mentally justify its exclusive use as a stylistic choice. I really need to learn with different textures and methods to grow a bit as an artist.

Sometimes, art is an escape from my studies (as it has been the past few days). Other times, my studies are an escape from art (which is only a prison of my own making).
Is there no beauty in trying not to break before the end of the line?
