Super Ed was pulling coaches. If those trials were successful, would there even be a need for James going forward? Did the railway even need him now?

James settled in at Tidmouth Sheds, glad no supercharged microwaves were in attendance. His relief was short-lived, as the engines could talk of nothing else - they'd already been talking about the Electro-Diesel as James had settled in.
Then, the bomb dropped. Gordon voiced his belief that James was to blame for their newcomer. And Murdoch agreed. Emily and Oliver fought back, but the bigger engines remained unmoved. Gordon even began ripping into James in that way he did, where anyone would think the engine he was speaking such ill of wasn't even there.
At that, James decided he wasn't welcome in Tidmouth Sheds. On any other day, James would have fought back. He would have retaliated, tried to argue his innocence. Ultimately, he decided to forgo the effort. What's everyone's opinions on the diesels on Sodor being a part of the general numbering system on the NW roster/ I'm not entirely against the idea myself, but I definitely believe that if it was part of the canon, it'd only likely lead to congestion.

"Super" Ed, as he was now insistent on calling himself, was making Tidmouth Sheds a difficult place to live. The engines on the whole still had rather mixed opinions on him - he was doing quite well with the coal trains, but at the same time, his new attitude had become quite grating. Gordon was decidedly in the camp of detesting the new engine. Then again, he detested most diesels from the Other Railway - especially ones that performed exceptionally well.
