According to @canorml.bsky.social , which sponsors A.B. 564, the state levies a 1-cent tax on a glass of wine, 2 cents on a can of beer, 8 cents on a shot of liquor, and roughly 14 cents on a single cigarette, while one cannabis pre-roll is taxed at $1.24 under the current 15% excise tax.

I discovered a pretty crazy stat in reporting this story. Last week a Southern California mega farm reported harvesting 232,000 pounds of cannabis in the previous quarter. That's more pot than all 1,000+ farms in Humboldt County harvested during the same time period, combined.
