Heartbreaking. And a wake-up call. It is no longer about being difficult to find a way to sustain yourself through your work online. It is no longer sustainable to keep a website up now. Axel has done so much for the web and all of us. Buy one of his books if you can. We've learned so much from him.

Two things happened recently: - The income from my book sales went from being enough for me to live off (2024) to zero (2026). - The traffic to my blog and my books (which were free to read online) increased beyond what I can currently afford. Virtually all of it comes from AI crawlers, so there is no ad income. Therefore, I’m taking my blog and my books offline so that I can decide what to do next – especially w.r.t. AI companies stealing my work. This may take a while (think months): I don’t have any energy to deal with this right now. I apologize for this (hopefully temporary) inconvenience to my human readers! My agent literally implement worker logic with locks etc without using a db transaction, so my first test that had an error made the whole logic fail as that job was now locked and would never be released 🤦🏻‍♂️ Sometimes they're soo surprisingly capable & then making the dumbest mistakes. Job safe 💁🏻‍♂️

It is true that Proton is located in Switzerland and responded to a legal request from the Swiss authorities. But it is also true that most people do not know what an MLAT is and there is a widespread misunderstanding that using Proton will protect your account from US govt requests.

You are mistaken, we do not respond to legal requests from anywhere other than the Swiss authorities. It is unlikely that one could build a business through ignoring the laws of the jurisdiction that it is in. The mail provider you're moving to included.

🤖 #Claude upgrade all my packages! Which then also makes sure that all code migrations, etc are done 😃 Is this already a thing? I think the most difficult part might be getting that information reliably, as not all packages publish proper changelogs etc, or maybe just from source? 🤔 #AIAgent #AI
