Today is Primary Election Day in WA! Voters, be sure to return your ballot to a state ballot drop box or your local voting center by 8:00 PM PT TONIGHT. (1/2)
Today is the 6th anniversary of our successful fight to pass the Great American Outdoors Act. This law fully funded the Land and Water Conservation Fund, which has invested over $730 million in conserving open space and public lands in Washington since its creation.
Today I joined the entire WA congressional delegation in a letter to President Trump supporting an expedited Emergency Declaration for counties and tribes affected by the large, fast-moving wildfires across our state.
The Spokane fire is the top fire in our nation. The federal government is going to give us the resources we need here on the ground. (1/2)
I am monitoring the dangerous fires in Spokane and across Central Washington. My office and I are in contact with local, state, and federal agencies to help make sure firefighters and first responders have the resources they need. (1/2)

More than 15,000 low-income families in Washington rely on the Child Care and Development Fund. Today, Senate Republicans voted to keep a Trump Administration policy that will make childcare more expensive and less accessible for many of those families. (1/2)
Medicare and Medicaid were signed into law on this day 61 years ago. Today, nearly 2 in 5 Americans & more than 3 million Washingtonians – including hundreds of thousands of children – rely on these programs for affordable healthcare. We must protect these life-saving programs.
GDP data released this morning revealed, again, that the economy is not growing at a pace we need to have any confidence for the future. A 1.5% rate of growth in the second quarter of 2026 is another warning sign that the economic policies of this Admin are wrong-headed & need to be changed.
U.S. economy slowed in second quarter, but consumers continue to spend
Economic activity weakened between April and June as energy costs surged, new government data shows.

Thank you to the WA members of Boys and Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) who visited me in DC! We got the chance to talk about the importance of BGCA for young people across our state, along with the important work that these BGCA members are doing to better their communities.
Great to meet with members of RESULTS Washington who came to talk to me about ways to reduce poverty. We discussed big issues in WA, across the nation, and abroad, including access to food assistance, healthcare, and housing.
The US Postal Service has no role in deciding who can vote. The Supreme Court should reject President Trump’s latest demand to allow him to interfere with the ability of Washingtonians to vote by mail. (1/2)
Trump asked the Supreme Court to allow the administration to move forward with implementing a sweeping executive order aimed at mail voting that lower courts blocked in nearly two dozen states – setting up a major elections dispute at the high court months before the midterms. https://cnn.it/4x9vFSL
The Administration is using the Supreme Court's mistaken ruling on Temporary Protected Status to strip legal status from thousands of law-abiding Haitians nationwide, including many community members in Spokane. (1/2) time.com/article/2026...

Today we recognize the 36th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act, which has made it possible for so many individuals with disabilities to live independently and join the workforce. www.cantwell.senate.gov/imo/media/do...
On World IVF Day, we celebrate the new life that IVF brings into the world. Congress must protect families’ access to IVF by passing the Right to IVF Act, which establishes a nationwide right to IVF and makes fertility treatments more affordable.
One year ago, Republicans eliminated $1.1B in public media funding. After 50+ years the Corporation for Public Broadcasting closed. The damage: 500+ employees laid off, stations shuttered & rural communities losing their only source of local news & emergency alerts.
Big bipartisan win: The Hurricane Hunter Aircraft Recapitalization Act unanimously passed the Commerce Committee. NOAA's Hurricane Hunter fleet is over 50 years old. This bill authorizes $2.5B for up to 9 new aircraft to keep communities safe. www.commerce.senate.gov/press/dem/re...

Democrats have the vision: Bringing the supply chain back to America, demanding that critical manufacturing happen here, and creating jobs through apprenticeship programs.
We should not accept the fact that in this country women, especially Black women, earn less than men for doing the same work. I join my colleagues in shining the light on this inequity in order to push for a real solution to this problem. (1/2)
Trade with Canada powers $7.3 billion in Washington state exports and supports more than 200,000 jobs. (1/2)
President Donald Trump is invoking a 1930 trade law to impose whopping 50% tariffs on certain Canadian goods. The move threatens a broader trade war with the United States’ second-top trading partner. https://cnn.it/4fuzj2k

57 years ago, astronauts Neil Armstrong & Buzz Aldrin became the first people to set foot on the moon. Subsequent Apollo missions landed 3 lunar rovers built in WA – and we’re very proud that 40+ WA companies supported this year’s Artemis II mission.
Six years ago today, we lost John Lewis – a civil rights icon who inspired us to fight for justice and equality, even in the face of great adversity. We now fight for our voting rights, which are under threat by the President of the United States. (1/2)
The President is wrong. Washington State’s universal vote-by-mail system is safe and secure and so was the 2020 election. Ask Mike Pence. (1/2)
I opposed the $1.1 trillion NDAA because it does not end President Trump’s unauthorized war with Iran, does not safeguard against the military being used domestically, and fails to justify its historic cost as Americans grapple with soaring food and energy prices. (1/2)
The SAVE America Act and redistricting to eliminate minority-majority districts are actions to take away the right to vote.
Thank you to Everytown for Gun Safety and Moms Demand Action advocates from WA for our recent meeting in DC. We discussed the urgent need to prevent gun violence, which affects far too many people across Washington state.
By removing all members of the independent and bipartisan federal Election Assistance Commission, President Trump is making our elections less secure. Only Congress can eliminate the EAC -- but that hasn’t stopped the President from trying to fully disable it. (1/2)
