Yessss, so excited to check out 2nd edition. The original is such a great concept and had the bones, but there was a room for polish. From what I understand, that’s exactly what we got. Can’t wait to table Defenders of the Wild! @outlandishgames.bsky.social @henryaudubon.bsky.social
Got big opinions on rulebooks? I want to hear em so I can tell the world about it (and of course shoutouts if I use your feedback directly in the vid) #boardgames
Working on a new series about what makes for good game experiences. I'll be looking at genres, components, whatever, but I want to start with rulebooks. What to you makes a good rulebook. What makes for a bad one?

God I love our weirdo ravens here in Southeast Alaska. These guys just refused to fly away when I pulled up, deciding they’d rather mosey their brown plastic a couple of feet away from the car.

I’m always itching for a great tower defense but few board games really fit the bill. Today’s game gets an enjoyable step closer. Firesiege: A Feralis Story - TCbH Review youtu.be/Zqi0s1hpIZ0

I don’t know how many licks to get to the center of a tootsie pop, but I can tell you how many tootsie pops to get to the center of my crown.
Well what in the name of Belladonna Took do we have here?
Just posted our review of @postcurious.bsky.social’s upcoming “The Witching Hour”, a bold new puzzletale that’s as focussed on accessibility as it is innovating the narrative-puzzle-mystery format. The Witching Hour - TCbH Review youtu.be/ODb-wwM9FD8

Totally didn't intend on making this video, but my adventures in trying to put away the game all in one box made me realize you might want some pointers. Here's how I got Blood Rage: Valhalla & Road to Helheim all put away. youtu.be/kE02w0XB1K4

Watched 2021’s The Spine of Night which somehow slipped under my radar. I’m such a mark for this. Dark fantasy in rotoscoped animation, told with short vignettes strung together making a mythic tapestry. What a great film.
Container is one of those games that seems so simple, then seems so, so complicated, then back to simple as soon as it clicks. Good on @allplay.bsky.social for bringing back an all-timer. Container: AllPlay has brought back a legend - TCbH Review youtu.be/jqYhvSFQZTc

Six-Sided Seas tonight! New release from @solisgamestudio.bsky.social. Cute and fast playing head-to-head game with some really satisfying gamey hooks. It has a real PNP vibe, but with the fit and finish along with tidy packaging, that works to its advantage.
Saw Resident Evil on Sunday. A consistently fun rollercoaster, but more shallow than I expected given the acclaim and how rich I found Cregger’s Weapons. Not everything needs to be deep, so I’m happy for just a really, really well made action horror comedy, but it’s no Obsession or Sinners either.
Mrs TCbH came home rocking an awesome new do.
Finally knocking Unfathomable off my shelf of shame tonight, one of the few games I’ve ever kept unplayed for more than a year. I have high hopes for this one, with a lotta nostalgia for playing BSG back in the day. Making it a whole thing with a big dinner too.
Been a while since I’ve taken a lunch break to read a book in the park, but I’ve been trying to put more time into meaningful enrichment and less with just “keeping up” or worse yet, doomscrolling. Mostly through Tamaki’s Book of Fallen Leaves; as a debut is intriguing but merely ok on the whole.
TEND is easily my favorite IV Studios game, a bonkers mashup of Stardew Valley and spreadsheets in space, and now it’s getting bigger. Here’s our review of the upcoming expansion Hive. TEND levels up with the Hive expansion - TCbH Review youtu.be/mfOFDWrQKiM

First game of @burntislandgames.bsky.social’s Under The Leaves and had a great first impression. Simple tile arrangement but lots of strategy and levers to pull for replay-ability. Looking forward to tabling this one more soon.
