"Goin' Back" was written by Gerry Goffin and Carole King in 1966. The song was recorded that year by Dusty Springfield, and was a top ten hit on the UK Singles Chart. The Byrds, Marianne Faithfull, the Pretenders, Diana Ross, Phil Collins, and Carole also covered the song, among many others.

Released in 1972, the album features "Been to Canaan", which topped the Billboard Adult Contemporary chart and peaked at number 24 on the Pop chart. The album itself also became a hit, reaching number two on the Billboard 200 chart.
