Statement for the Record Opposing Todd Blanche's Confirmation for Attorney General Senate Judiciary Committee Thursday, July 16, 2026 The Honorable Chuck Grassley, Chairman The Honorable Dick Durbin, Ranking Member Senate Judiciary Committee United States Senate Dear Chairman Grassley, Ranking Member Durbin, and Members of the Senate Judiciary Committee, As anti-sex trafficking advocates, survivors, and concerned citizens, we write to urge you to oppose the confirmation of Todd Blanche as Attorney General. Mr. Blanche's handling of the Epstein case demonstrates a deeply troubling failure of leadership. Under his oversight, the Department of Justice released files containing significant redaction failures, exposing survivors' names and personal information while still shielding alleged perpetrators and other powerful individuals. Survivors and their attorneys repeatedly warned the Department about these risks, yet identifying information was disclosed anyway, causing lasting harm that could have been prevented. Equally concerning is the Department's apparent effort to close the Epstein matter while major questions remain unanswered. Investigative leads are still outstanding, and millions of pages of records remain undisclosed. More than 1,000 victims have been identified in one of the largest sex trafficking operations in American history, yet only two individuals have been held accountable. Survivors have provided information, requested meetings, and urged further investigation, but their concerns have been met with dismissal and inaction. Recent reports that senior administration officials, including Mr. Blanche, participated in discussions focused on managing the political fallout from the Epstein files rather than pursuing truth and accountability raise further concerns about his judgment and priorities.
