Spending time at your local park is a great way to stay active, connect with your community and support your mental and physical well-being. As we kick off July, make some time to step outside and explore the incredible public green spaces right in your backyard. 🌳☀️

The Legislature has just passed the budget. I am grateful that after months of advocacy, we secured $15 million for the Children's Holistic Immigration Representation Project (CHIRP), helping immigrant children who would otherwise be forced to represent themselves in court.

Text: “No child should have to represent themselves in legal court proceedings. That is why I joined immigration advocates in calling for $15 million in funding for the Children’s Holistic Immigration Representation Project (CHIRP), helping children navigate complex immigration proceedings while getting connected to housing, education, and trauma-informed care. Today’s vote on the Budget Act of 2026 does just that, demonstrating California’s commitment to a more just and equitable justice system.”

On behalf of the CLBC, I was proud to present SCR 183 on the Senate Floor, recognizing 6/19 as Juneteenth. This day commemorates when the last enslaved Black Americans in Texas learned of their freedom. It reminds us that freedom delayed is freedom denied and we must continue our fight for justice.
