Just finished @latelordchatham.bsky.social 's excellent book, Quicksilver Captain. It highlights the lack of control that the Admiralty actually had. How many other men like Popham are we waiting to hear about? It also gives us a good idea of how Donald Trump would have fared as a RN captain.🎲🎲

Just been to see Gladiiator film, not terrible and has suitable nods to the original classic. However it is clear that Ridley Scott is now too arrogant or out of touch to make a great film ever again.

George Brumbley, the last name on the WW1 memorial at Denton, Lincs, enlisted 06/02/1915 and served with the 6th Lincs in Gallipoli. By Dec. 1915 he was sick with goitre and a dilated heart, discharged 21/07/1916 & died 8/01/19, not an official casualty but a 'glorious death'.
