The USDA memo that was circulated to the governors of gray wolf and Mexican gray wolf states on October 12 is, frankly, a load of crap. The letters urge the governors and state agencies to lethally remove wolves to protect cows - the same wolf-scapegoating BS we've heard for years. (1/2)

Yesterday's webinar from the National Trust for Historic Preservation about the Bipartisan American Affordability and Jobs Act was really helpful for understanding the specific dangers of the bill to #archaeology and #HistoricPreservation, give it a listen if you can! 🧪🏺

Section 106 Under Threat: Understanding and Responding to Federal Permitting Reform

we invest preservation projects, like 2,000+ feet of tributaries in the Medina Marsh shown here, that maintain and improve water quality. since 2005, we’ve helped preserve thousands of natural acres like bogs (Cuyahoga bog above) and wetlands and *hundreds of thousands* of feet of streams.

marshy wetland. shallow water with felled trees across the surface left to right. bright green vegetation in the background.

location is Medina Marsh, a preservation project.

It is not an exaggeration to say that the passage of #BAAJA threatens Yellowstone with irreversible harm. Maybe we should take a little more time to decide whether powering Elon Musk's mechaHitler is worth that sacrifice.

"Federal review would disappear even where a well taps the same underground system that feeds park geysers.... Any harm to park thermal resources would more than likely be permanent."

The Bipartisan American Affordability and Jobs Act is being considered by the senate and will allow data centers to avoid even the bare minimum environmental permitting to protect the air you breathe and water you drink. Call your senators and tell them to vote no. #archaeology #Section106 🧪⚱️

A subtropical storm could form later today or tonight off the U.S. east coast. This system has already produced coastal flooding, beach erosion, and marine impacts and will continue to due so as it slowly moves away from the coast this week. hurricanes.gov

Did you know that 98% of #S106 projects in Colorado are no adverse effect/no historic sites and are resolved in less than 30 days? #BAAJA 🏺 #historicpreservation #archaeology S106 doesn't hold up projects, poor planning by developers does.
